How to Prompt

Prompts should be one prompt per comment, formatted in this way: fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence

Example: Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand

Prompts may also be open ended, unspecific, or anthropomorphic, such as:

any, any, I don't like sand
or
Earth geography, sand, I don't like humans very much, either

Prompts for relationships are welcome; a / is used for romantic/sexual relationships and an & for platonic. A prompt that uses both means the relationship can be written as either romantic or platonic, such as:

Star Wars, Anakin/&Obi-Wan, I don't like sand

Prompts may be repeated if they are unfilled; there is no obligation to read through every prompt to make sure yours isn't a repeat. This year's 3SF will stay open for new prompts through Sunday, February 12th.

How to Fill

Respond to your chosen prompt with a short fic of three sentences containing the fandom & characters requested!

Prompts can be filled more than once, as many times as someone has a new idea for them.

No, fills do not need to be exactly three sentences! It's more of a guideline. Please abuse grammar and punctuation as much as desired.

3SF is a Choose Not to Warn space. Spoiler and content warnings are not required, though writers are free to add them if they please. If you see something you don't like, just scroll until you do!

A Dreamwidth account is not needed to participate. Anonymous prompts/fills are welcome, or you can use Open ID.

The panther huffed and then slunk off into the shadows to find Lucy; she was always up for a romp.

"Well, you said we were raising her to be self-sufficient," says Lila, coughing at the cloud of black smoke billowing from the oven as she pulls out the charred mess of hotdogs, whole onions, frosted cereal, and gummy bears glued to the baking dish, "so unless you want her living on raw eggs because she can't boil water someday, I don't see why you're this upset."

"I meant after we've taught her enough that she's ready," Diego hisses through gritted teeth--he'd definitely be yelling if Grace weren't sitting on his lap while he rubs aloe vera on her tiny burnt hand--"not when she's four years old!"

And for all she's been practicing her truth-telling lately, Lila can't bring herself to say sometimes, four years is all you get, or if you're not ready in time, you'll be forced to depend on the wrong person--some walls are harder to tear down than the one in Berlin, especially the kind you build inside yourself over a lifetime--so instead she flashes her most sheepish smile and says, "Okay, maybe this wasn't my finest hour as a parent."

Natasha is grander than that because she mends more than broken flesh, more than splintered bones, more than hellish fevers; she soothes the frayed nerves of soldiers and villagers, victims and participants of this atrocious war than her own home started, lends an attentive ear and stretches her calloused but nonetheless charitable hands to those that need it most.

Later, after they've revived him in their underwater stronghold, the creatures tell him how they arrived from the stars, long before mankind came to be. In the part of his mind not consumed by terror, Lucius wishes that he had pen and paper so he could write down all that he hears.

And the girl? She was like the melody, flitting effortlessly to and fro between the two of them, bright and beautiful and utterly captivating in her ways.

Even with Alexander's ring, knowing he was here, she planned how to escape, or failing that, how to seize the lamp. While it might be distasteful to order a jinn to destroy its former owner, the threat would be neutralized and she could them return her mind to solving the troubles of the islands around her.

Jowd forces his hands to remain calm on the wheel and tries not to think about the searing heat of the exploding chair, nor the staccato of machine gun fire, nor even the swirling, ghastly red-black realm of ghosts and Manipulators; instead, he glances at Cabanela and laughs and says, "No, and I never want to."
