How to Prompt

Prompts should be one prompt per comment, formatted in this way: fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence

Example: Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand

Prompts may also be open ended, unspecific, or anthropomorphic, such as:

any, any, I don't like sand
or
Earth geography, sand, I don't like humans very much, either

Prompts for relationships are welcome; a / is used for romantic/sexual relationships and an & for platonic. A prompt that uses both means the relationship can be written as either romantic or platonic, such as:

Star Wars, Anakin/&Obi-Wan, I don't like sand

Prompts may be repeated if they are unfilled; there is no obligation to read through every prompt to make sure yours isn't a repeat. This year's 3SF will stay open for new prompts through Sunday, February 12th.

How to Fill

Respond to your chosen prompt with a short fic of three sentences containing the fandom & characters requested!

Prompts can be filled more than once, as many times as someone has a new idea for them.

Notes & Rules

No, fills do not need to be exactly three sentences! It's more of a guideline. Please abuse grammar and punctuation as much as desired.

3SF is a Choose Not to Warn space. Spoiler and content warnings are not required, though writers are free to add them if they please. If you see something you don't like, just scroll until you do!

A Dreamwidth account is not needed to participate. Anonymous prompts/fills are welcome, or you can use Open ID.

“Oh, thanks very much!” I shouted with as much vitriol as I could manage, which unfortunately wasn’t half as much as what was already eating into the first of my shirts, the remains of my first - and now failed - alchemy project splashed across the fabric, the kind of thing not even Mum’s strongest strengthening charm could save it from.

And of course, all I got in recompense was a half-hearted wave and a “Sorry!” tossed over the shoulder of some skinny twat with silver hair who’d run into me, hot on the heels of a grobbler streaking through the lab - what on earth he thought he was going to do with it when he caught up with it, I didn’t know, but he looked like an enclave kid, still neat and clean-ish, so it wasn’t like I gave a damn.

“Wanker,” I muttered, yanking off the already-lost portion of my shirt before the vitriol could eat its way up; I’d just have to finish out this lesson in a crop top, and fuck anybody who looked at me sideways.

"Peter," Lucy hisses as she drags him out of the back of the audience and through the hallway toward the door he knows leads backstage, "we've had a major set malfunction and need to stall for time while we do a patch job, so we're enlisting you to entertain; Susan will get you a costume and Ed will give you a mission briefing."
Two minutes later (his siblings can be scarily efficient when they want to be) he's stepping out onstage in a nice tunic, with a fake sword belted to his waist and a gaudy crown on his head, Ed's words about the fake situation ("an invasion from the South, we're outnumbered but much better supplied, there's a foreign princess who we're hosting and guarding, you're trying to raise morale, and please try to remember everyone involved is human") still ringing in his ears.
"My loyal subjects," he begins, and falls easily into the familiar cadence.

The brandy burns, a cheap bottle Bones would be disgusted at, and Jim thinks even if he finished the entire bottle it wouldn’t dull what he wants it to dull, the sight of his crewman’s face still clear in his mind. He barely looks up when Nyota settles into the chair opposite him and she doesn’t say a word, simply slides the bottle towards herself and takes a swallow, nose wrinkling as it goes down.

She passes it back, their hands brushing, and somehow her quiet, warm presence does a sight more than the bad liquor does to soothe his aching heart.

Their first ever bus ride was an unbearably long one, all four Roses and their accouterments spilling over the edges of two or four bus seats a piece, like their overstuffed luggage.

The first three or four hours were all bickering and shouting and shoving when they discovered wet gum wads or broken seat outlets, interspersed with panicked quiet as they tried to call in every favor they ever might have gained, but eventually, Alexis fell asleep, threatening to lean on David where she'd parked herself in his row of the bus to mooch off his outlet, and he didn't push her away from his cashmere--it still hadn't really sunk in, but whatever was going to happen to him, at least they were both in it together. He'd gotten Alexis out of worse.

Molly shouldn't be the one confirming this, but John had asked for her, and she couldn't deny him, even as she lied to him. But watching him take in her words, seeing the denial that wants to break free, she wishes she hadn't. She's shattered him as surely as Sherlock did, jumping off of the roof, and it is cruel and obscene, yet she cannot relay the truth; she promised, and there is far too much at stake to ruin the game now.

Elizabeth came up beside him and leaned her elbows on the railing, her gaze pinned on the shimmering path the moonlight clove through the dark expanse of water, and the silence between them magnified the creaking of the ship’s lines and timbers and the slap of the waves against the hull.

“Do you ever regret it—joining my crew?” she asked, breaking the silence, though her gaze never strayed from the beam of moonlight.

James said nothing for a moment, but when he did, his voice was no louder than the soft splashing of the waves: “Sometimes,” he said and turned to leave, feeling the weight of her gaze upon his back.
