How to Prompt

Prompts should be one prompt per comment, formatted in this way: fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence

Example: Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand

Prompts may also be open ended, unspecific, or anthropomorphic, such as:

any, any, I don't like sand
or
Earth geography, sand, I don't like humans very much, either

Prompts for relationships are welcome; a / is used for romantic/sexual relationships and an & for platonic. A prompt that uses both means the relationship can be written as either romantic or platonic, such as:

Star Wars, Anakin/&Obi-Wan, I don't like sand

Prompts may be repeated if they are unfilled; there is no obligation to read through every prompt to make sure yours isn't a repeat. This year's 3SF will stay open for new prompts through Sunday, February 12th.

How to Fill

Respond to your chosen prompt with a short fic of three sentences containing the fandom & characters requested!

Prompts can be filled more than once, as many times as someone has a new idea for them.

Notes & Rules

No, fills do not need to be exactly three sentences! It's more of a guideline. Please abuse grammar and punctuation as much as desired.

3SF is a Choose Not to Warn space. Spoiler and content warnings are not required, though writers are free to add them if they please. If you see something you don't like, just scroll until you do!

A Dreamwidth account is not needed to participate. Anonymous prompts/fills are welcome, or you can use Open ID.

"I do, thank you, Nanami-sama," Mizutama said peacefully, smiling, "I wished to speak with you about Tomoe-dono;" she held up a hand as Nanami opened her mouth, "Tomoe-dono and . . . the Demon King - I knew them both, once, long ago. It was almost impossible to seek one and not find the other . . . even then - even now."

She shivered, shadows in her dark eyes, and Nanami was riveted before she even began to speak.

"They say she died here," Joel starts, gaze focused on Wednesday as she lowers herself on the hotel bed. "Right on that bed. She took her final breaths after her throat had been slashed, blood soaking her nightgown and making her choke. They never caught the person who did it."

"I can almost feel her," Wednesday murmurs; her eyes are closed and her expression makes her look almost peaceful. "Do you think they're still out there?"

"Probably," Joel answers and then looks down at the notebook he's holding so he can cross out this particular crime scene from their list. "We should go now if we still want to visit the Lizzie Borden Bed & Breakfast tomorrow.”

Wednesday stands up and brushes a light kiss to Joel’s cheek. “It’s a date.”

Once she had been sorrowful for the changes of the world, but now. . .

Nuada appeared at her side, his crown gleaming on his brow, and extended a hand, and Nuala smiled, allowing her brother to draw her close; they ascended to the dais together, both long ago risen beneath the titles they had never truly wished to bear.

The story didn't get passed around much, mostly because it was so ridiculous - sure, Mac, there's mutant turtles living in the sewers, and they took down an entire organized crime ring by challenging the big boss to a karate match - are you off your meds or what? But now and then some of the old crew would get together and speak of it in hushed whispers, like if they drew fate's attention it would come crashing through their window in the form of some hard-shelled green demon.

Once or twice some of the younger ones got together and explored parts of the sewer, looking for proof, but they never found anything - either the demons who destroyed the Foot were long gone, or better at hiding than their enemies were at seeking, or they never existed in the first place and the whole 'ninja turtles' thing had always been bullshit.

Doctor Who, any, unexpected reunions

When she opens the front door, Sarah sways on her feet, hangs onto the door frame as she finds herself staring at a ghost. Her rational mind kicks in almost straight away, because this would be far from the first time that she's encountered an alien that can duplicate someone's appearance; it's not even the first time that she's met one that has duplicated Harry.

Either way, she thinks her question of, "Is it really you?" is quite reasonable under the circumstances.

Harry's smile, like the man himself, is older than she remembers it, but no less warm for that. "It's me, old thing," he says and that's all she needs to hear, that silly nickname she hated so much, the one he kept on using because he liked to see her dander up when he did so.

She pulls him into a hug and while he's clearly surprised, he doesn't waste any time in returning it; after all, they both know they've lost more than enough.

The Doctor was familiar with guilt — intimately so, one might say, and they wouldn’t be wrong about that — and he’d found a way to live with it over and over again and knew he would again and again, but there was something sharper about this guilt, something deeper, something more.

The more he thought about it, the more he realized why this guilt hit him so hard in a way he hadn’t expected: it was because Clara was different and always had been — at least in this form, the one he’d subconsciously created for himself at his last regeneration — and always would be — in this form and every one after that, no matter how many dozens or hundreds he would be given in the end.

Clara was special because the Doctor loved her — which he had to remind himself, was the very reason for her downfall, the very reason she’d been there and been so brave and so self sacrificing — and because he loved her so much he would feel more keenly than anything before the guilt of what happened to her for the rest of his lives.

In England, Mother rationed spices because of the war, served breakfasts and dinners plain and tasteless but for the ever-present seasoning of fear and smoke, but nearly everything was rationed -- the best and bulk of all goods and food diverted toward the army, the navy, and the RAF -- so Susan hadn't realized that not all scarcities stemmed from the same causes.

England has cattle, salt, and coal, but nutmeg and cinnamon, sugar and oil? Those come from overseas, the luxuries of empire and trade, and here in Narnia whose climate feels like home, she once again finds spices dear as gold, and some days she might almost swear the heaping plates and brimful bowls upon her table retain the taste of London's ash and smog.

Wander considers, in low spirits for a moment at the idea of violence as a solution, until... "Why Sylvia, I think you're right !" He exclaims, "I thought Hater could calm her down because they were both villains, but if she needs a special someone in her life, and I think she does, then maybe a strong-armed zbornak *is* exactly what she needs!"

"Jamie!?" he half-shrieked.

Jamie looked vaguely annoyed, but he still clasped Adam's hand with the same strength and sincerity he'd always possessed. "I knew it was you out there when I heard what happened to my ballista," he said.

"I should've known it was you when I saw that ballista!" Adam laughed. "How the hell did you end up here?"

"Long story," Jamie shrugged.

"Well, tell me about it over a drink. I figure I owe you one at this point."

Adam had never really stopped smiling, but he felt like he definitely needed that grin-ectomy when Jamie finally responded with a small smile of his own.

What you want is irrelevant; what you've chosen is at hand!

Valeris has not, numerous though her crimes may otherwise be, perpetrated a certain violence on another and, given the gravity of such an action regardless of circumstance, she finds it entirely fair to wonder just who should be considered the (better is an arbitrary term, do not use it as a measure) more suitably representative Vulcan.
