How to Prompt

Prompts should be one prompt per comment, formatted in this way: fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence

Example: Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand

Prompts may also be open ended, unspecific, or anthropomorphic, such as:

any, any, I don't like sand
or
Earth geography, sand, I don't like humans very much, either

Prompts for relationships are welcome; a / is used for romantic/sexual relationships and an & for platonic. A prompt that uses both means the relationship can be written as either romantic or platonic, such as:

Prompts may be repeated if they are unfilled; there is no obligation to read through every prompt to make sure yours isn't a repeat. This year's 3SF will stay open for new prompts through Sunday, February 12th.

How to Fill

Respond to your chosen prompt with a short fic of three sentences containing the fandom & characters requested!

Prompts can be filled more than once, as many times as someone has a new idea for them.

No, fills do not need to be exactly three sentences! It's more of a guideline. Please abuse grammar and punctuation as much as desired.

3SF is a Choose Not to Warn space. Spoiler and content warnings are not required, though writers are free to add them if they please. If you see something you don't like, just scroll until you do!

Although there was no head to their round table, King Obi-Wan was the one everyone looked to, and it was well known that the seat to his right always belonged to Sir Anakin. This day, they all sat and planned a quest to remake the caves of Ilum, where the crystals that were the hearts of their legendary swords were found, from the evil Tyrannus who had stolen them. Sir Anakin was to ride out with his squire, Ahsoka, and with Sir Aayla (the king had been planning to accompany them, but Cody, the head of the royal guard and leader of the army, had convinced him that Sir Anakin, Sir Aayla, and Ahsoka were perfectly capable of this mission and he would be more useful staying behind) and when they returned triumphant they would again be able to take the pages and squires to find their crystals at the sacred caves of Ilum.

Susan is always terribly efficient, both in dressing and undressing - he's seen both in equal measure and while the delights of the results of one are obviously greater both are still a joy to watch.

Watching her put on her armor for battle, though, that is different and always will be, the precision and swiftness that he appreciates so thoroughly when it's her carefully chosen gowns and delicate underthings and earrings is turned into something different entirely when it's leather he's seen blood stained that she's buckling on.

He catches her hand in the middle of a strap, whispers "let me" against her neck and uses it as an excuse to keep her closer for just another moment.

New spirits these days are ruder -- the spirits of modern things like electricity, bullet trains, neon or pollution are impatient and quick to take offense, sometimes sincerely but just as often as an intimidation tactic. They're the worst guests at Yubaba's bathhouse, noisy and rude and likely to demand to speak to whoever's in charge, as if it's their right.

Older spirits never ask to see the manager, because they understand that they'll be dealing with Haku or, worse, Yubaba herself.

She never saw it again, but she looked pretty closely at cats after that, especially if they had bushy tails, or when a pair of eyes reflected headlights - even after she’d half forgotten why.

After the Adventure, as Lucy liked to call it with far more romanticism than the rest of the can manage, Jack had to admit, his return to running the asylum was not high on his list of priorities. There was so much work to do with everything else, and yet there he was filling out paperwork, double checking records, and reviewing every request that came to his desk.

But, there were some recompense to coming back after a long day to a warm, cheery household. Lucy would take one look at him and force him to come put his head in her lap so she could massage his brow, while Quincey pulled off his shoes to rub his feet, and then Art would laugh and tell him (again) to just quit his job and become his kept man like Quincey. That would lead to a pillow fight with the good throw pillows and much laughter from Lucy, and Jack would just lay there, eyes closed in bliss as the ones he loved most chased away his cares of the day.

He’d tried at the time to tell them the Fold was an accident, that he hadn’t actually torn a monster-birthing hole in his country intentionally, but, well - no one had believed in the goodness of a man who pulled shadows from his blood, not his whole life long, and they hadn’t been inclined to start then.

And now, so many years later, it’s still the same, still this girl, this sour, prickly little ball of light looking sidelong at him, saying, “So you don’t want to enlarge the Fold and use it to kill all your enemies?”

For a moment, he lets himself think of it, think of removing a King who’s corrupt and worse, think of killing indiscriminately as his Grisha have been killed, generations beyond counting, lets himself revel in the glory of what he could be, if he chose - and then he opens his eyes to the light, and smiles, and tell her no, as he must.

“You didn’t think I’d actually do it,” she breathes, and clings to the light rising inside her at the touch of his skin, like the mist of her exhale, like the living steam lifting from the cooling stag; the light that is all and everything, the light that will make her a saint, make her a goddess, ephemeral and bright. “Now you know exactly what I am,” she says, only for him, and watches the shadows play across his face, twisting his expression; now respect, now fear.

After the Accident, Susan has to go through her family's belongings, sift through the detritus of their lives, and try to decide what to keep, what to donate, and what to pitch. Each day is a new agony as she pulls out some new object and fresh memories would come rushing in, leaving her blinking back tears as she tries to not let herself keep one more unnecessary object.

How well she bears up! her neighbors say. How brave of her, her coworkers whisper.

"How silly," Edmund says in her dreams, when he sits on the edge of her bath, staring down at her in the cool waters. In her dreams, the bathwater always goes cold before he arrives.

"You weren't here to warm me up," she shoots back; he smirks at her and slides into the water.

"Am I not here now?" he asks as he rocks inside her until her limbs feel warm again, until she can feel alive again, until she is almost at the edge of euphoria and misery.

And then she awakes and her agony starts anew. "How silly," she mutters, scrubbing her eyes, and sits up to starts the process of sifting through household items once more.

He is not the first fool to lose his heart to one of the dragons, but mercifully, he keeps his head... because that girl will need it, if she's to sit the Iron Throne.

"There's a safe house, only you and the Machine know where it is--" Finch pauses, then adds, "--and perhaps, Ms. Groves does as well."

Shaw doesn't need another safe house; still, she tucks the key away for at least one recon--you never knew when you might need a quick bolthole, after all (the coordinates pop onto her phone two nights later when she's hustling a Number from a botched rescue, and she drags the man into the loft apartment; the key gets lost a week later, it and the apartment are wiped clean of all prints, though anything of use was packed and taken).

When Rhaenyra snaps and declares that if they intend to push her so to marry, she’ll have Otto Hightower himself for her husband, Alicent blanches, though truthfully, she’s more concerned that Daemon Targaryen will kill her father this time, one insult too many.

When Otto accepts the proposal, absurd and loveless as it is, Alicent helps lace her friend into her wedding gown and bites her lip so as not to ask why; tries to forget she’s clothed now in her own mother’s discards, just another added to the pile.

When the happy couple turn from the Septon, hand in hand, Alicent smiles by reflex, kisses her stepmother on the cheek as though they’re strangers, and digs her nails into her cuticles hard enough to leave bloodstains on her mother’s gown.
