How to Prompt

Prompts should be one prompt per comment, formatted in this way: fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence

Example: Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand

Prompts may also be open ended, unspecific, or anthropomorphic, such as:

any, any, I don't like sand
or
Earth geography, sand, I don't like humans very much, either

Prompts for relationships are welcome; a / is used for romantic/sexual relationships and an & for platonic. A prompt that uses both means the relationship can be written as either romantic or platonic, such as:

Star Wars, Anakin/&Obi-Wan, I don't like sand

Prompts may be repeated if they are unfilled; there is no obligation to read through every prompt to make sure yours isn't a repeat. This year's 3SF will stay open for new prompts through Sunday, February 12th.

How to Fill

Respond to your chosen prompt with a short fic of three sentences containing the fandom & characters requested!

Prompts can be filled more than once, as many times as someone has a new idea for them.

Notes & Rules

No, fills do not need to be exactly three sentences! It's more of a guideline. Please abuse grammar and punctuation as much as desired.

3SF is a Choose Not to Warn space. Spoiler and content warnings are not required, though writers are free to add them if they please. If you see something you don't like, just scroll until you do!

A Dreamwidth account is not needed to participate. Anonymous prompts/fills are welcome, or you can use Open ID.

It was most obvious to Wei Wuxian when Shijie made pork rib and lotus soup for him and Jiang Cheng after one of their - not fights, exactly, but not-not fights, either.

She would make the soup, go to them individually, clean up any cuts or scrapes or bruises, dry any tears, then gently cajole them into the same pavilion overlooking the blooming lotus blossoms or the sunset or the stars, and she would feed them.

Food, for Wei Ying, meant safety; pork rib and lotus soup, though, that meant love - it meant family.

His father shows him that a king drives his kingdom, his court, his family with his appetites and his strong arm (and his backhand); his mother teaches him that he should have everything he wants, as anyone of Lannister blood deserves. His grandfather lectures him about moderation every once in while, but Joffrey has read his histories, and he hardly thinks Grandfather showed moderation when he slaughtered the Reynes and the Tarbecks like the dogs they were - he wonders if Grandfather liked it when they begged and screamed, the way Joffrey likes it when Sansa is obviously trying not to cry.

Joffrey knows what a king is - a man who holds a kingdom in his fist and squeezes it as he likes - and he is as good at being a king as he knows to be.

But Rhaegar had spurned her, broken her destiny and her family for the sake of the Stark girl, and so today she takes a second husband for a queen's crown. But not a consort's crown, not this time, she thinks as she winds her silver hair into a braid and pins it in place, this time I get the khal and his ten thousand Dothraki, and I get to sit on the Iron Throne and watch the Usurper burn to ash at my feet, and I get a golden crown, yes, everything that is the dragon's, it's going to be mine.

Chloe sits inside the empty church and shudders. She forces herself to take a fortifying breath but it’s not enough, the tears leak out anyway. She’d been so stupid, letting Lucifer follow her around like an excited puppy, becoming friends, becoming partners, trusting him, believing every one of his lies, letting him build up an image of himself that she cared about— that she was starting to fall in love with.

Leia'd begged her parents for a younger sister when she was a child so she could dress up and play dolls with someone else, paint their faces with Breha's makeup and sip imaginary tea around round tables. Never a brother, though: they were stinky, and loud, and gross, and disgusting, and would pinch and hit her.

Now, though, as she watches Luke guide his students in lightsaber forms cobbled together from old videos and what Ahsoka and Ezra remember of their own training, she thinks that having a brother isn't so bad, after all.

Leia named him after Obi-Wan, old Ben, who'd saved her once, and died saving her again, who'd delivered hope to the galaxy, who was the bravest, strongest, kindest man she'd known, other than Bail. It had been her hope for her son, that he, too, would grow to be brave, and strong, and kind.

She paces, chews her nails, the habit she thought she outgrew decades ago, and tries to remember where it all went wrong, where she'd failed him, that he would turn out like this.

“Have any of you kids seen my…” Bruce trails off as he descends into the cave and can see his kids in a noisy huddle around one of the pop-up tables, but unable to identify what they are doing.

In unison, Dick, Steph, Jason, Duke, Cass, and Tim all look up, eyes wide in the most blatantly guilty and suspicious eyes he’s ever seen as Damian, not yet looking away from whatever was in his lap, asks, “one of the criminals just threw him in the river, so we brought him home to dry off…”

It’s a cat, now dried fur full of electrical charge and sticking out in every direction, and the mew it lets out is so pitiful, Bruce immediately agrees to keep it.
