This post will remain open for new prompts until we hit 4000 comments, at which point we'll open a new one to avoid captcha as long as possible. New fills and comments on fills will always be welcome.


How to Prompt

Prompts should be one prompt per comment, formatted in this way: fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence

Example: Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand

Prompts may also be open ended, unspecific, or anthropomorphic, such as:

any, any, I don't like sand
or
Earth geography, sand, I don't like humans very much, either

Prompts for relationships are welcome; a / is used for romantic/sexual relationships and an & for platonic. A prompt that uses both means the relationship can be written as either romantic or platonic, such as:

Star Wars, Anakin/&Obi-Wan, I don't like sand

Prompts may be repeated if they are unfilled; there is no obligation to read through every prompt to make sure yours isn't a repeat. This year's 3SF will stay open for new prompts through Sunday, February 12th.

How to Fill

Respond to your chosen prompt with a short fic of three sentences containing the fandom & characters requested!

Prompts can be filled more than once, as many times as someone has a new idea for them.

Notes & Rules

No, fills do not need to be exactly three sentences! It's more of a guideline. Please abuse grammar and punctuation as much as desired.

3SF is a Choose Not to Warn space. Spoiler and content warnings are not required, though writers are free to add them if they please. If you see something you don't like, just scroll until you do!

A Dreamwidth account is not needed to participate. Anonymous prompts/fills are welcome, or you can use Open ID.

Cross-posting is encouraged; there is a 3SF Collection on AO3 if you'd like to post fills there as well.

Susan feels it in the earth, Edmund hears it on the wind, and Peter sees it in the face of everyone of his subjects. For Lucy, it comes to her from everywhere, everything. It can move her to tears.

Someone already filled this, so I just want to do one for Lucy, hope you don't mind

Dig here, the soil whispers to Lucy until her fingers finds buried seeds that have been choked by weeds. Plant here, the ground beckons until she frees the dirt of rocks and directs the gardeners where to plow. Burn these, says the old woods until Lucy sets the torch that will clear the leaf litter and let trees finally release their seeds so that can grow into strong forests of their own. Lucy listens to nature until flowers grow on her brow, trees dance to her rhythm, and the dryads all call her Kore, the Spring Maid.

Looking for Heaven

“I just know,” Ed says, trying to still the urge to shift in his seat, because he does - something in him feels the rightness of it, the righteousness, the lies on one side of the case tilting like scales inside his soul with the truth on the other, the hum of their balance like the purr of a satisfied cat.

For Peter, it is simple; he bends to touch the soil and stands knowing where to go to find his foe, how to lay out his army when he arrives, the precise hillside and time to take advantage of the sun, rising like the fire in his blood as he urges his comrades along, embers of it swirling along the line until all share the roar of his fury.

Susan laughs, a musical note like a finger run round the edge of glass, and diplomats and princes smile at her, charmed, caught in the skeins of a web made of beauty and delight, and when she takes aim, she does not miss-

(-in the gardens, neither does Lucy, though her aims are ephemeral, fleeting; the endless, glorious chase of joy from one moment to the next, golden and warm as sunlight.)

Okay I came back to edit this because I just need to say that I love this so much :"caught in the skeins of a web made of beauty and delight" like, wow!!!

This is so beautiful and poetic! I love each of their subtle displays of magic and how those tie into the qualities that define each of the Pevensies as rulers. Just lovely!

They each found that they had a little more to them in Narnia—a grace and power that couldn’t completely be explained simply by their growing up; nor did it not come from skipping and stomping to the flutes and pipes of the fauns upon the Dancing Lawn; nor from carousing with the dryads, naiads, and river gods on Midsummer; nor from spinning in the winter snowfall during the Great Snow Dance, nor from any number of the wild and magical events that their people so loved.

It came rather from within, from the heartbeat of Narnia that beat within their own hearts and spilled into their veins and changed the children into something other.

In Peter, the magic spilled from his voice, and all who fell under the spell of his voice were captivated and motivated to do deeds of bravery and honor; in Susan, the magic seeped from her hands, and the hands of the gentle queen became renowned for their healing of both body and spirit; in Edmund, the magic shone from his eyes, and all who felt the weight of his gaze felt their hearts moved to truth and wisdom; and in Lucy, the magic sprang from her feet, and wherever she walked, the land burst forth in growth and the people felt their hearts fill with inexplicable joy.
