This post will remain open for new prompts until we hit 4000 comments, at which point we'll open a new one to avoid captcha as long as possible. New fills and comments on fills will always be welcome.


How to Prompt

Prompts should be one prompt per comment, formatted in this way: fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence

Example: Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand

Prompts may also be open ended, unspecific, or anthropomorphic, such as:

any, any, I don't like sand
or
Earth geography, sand, I don't like humans very much, either

Prompts for relationships are welcome; a / is used for romantic/sexual relationships and an & for platonic. A prompt that uses both means the relationship can be written as either romantic or platonic, such as:

Star Wars, Anakin/&Obi-Wan, I don't like sand

Prompts may be repeated if they are unfilled; there is no obligation to read through every prompt to make sure yours isn't a repeat. This year's 3SF will stay open for new prompts through Sunday, February 12th.

How to Fill

Respond to your chosen prompt with a short fic of three sentences containing the fandom & characters requested!

Prompts can be filled more than once, as many times as someone has a new idea for them.

Notes & Rules

No, fills do not need to be exactly three sentences! It's more of a guideline. Please abuse grammar and punctuation as much as desired.

3SF is a Choose Not to Warn space. Spoiler and content warnings are not required, though writers are free to add them if they please. If you see something you don't like, just scroll until you do!

A Dreamwidth account is not needed to participate. Anonymous prompts/fills are welcome, or you can use Open ID.

Cross-posting is encouraged; there is a 3SF Collection on AO3 if you'd like to post fills there as well.

They knew they were right and the monsters needed to be eliminated. They had been shining white, but the black from the monsters started to attach itself to them, and they gradually turned first a paler grey and then darker grey until the colour grew indistinguishable from black. And then they were afraid in their turn for the new ones in shiny white were after them, and thus the never ending cycle was perpetuated.

She’d stand on the edge of the abyss, saving the universe with him; and if he came back from that abyss as—something else—she’d save the universe then too.

After all, he’d trained her to destroy alien monsters.

I really like this, with his pragmatism and acknowledging Ace as his eventual destruction (if needed).

Oh, I love this! Such a devastating and perfect encapsulation of their relationship. And poor Doctor- but it's totally believable that he would think that about himself at his worst moments. :(

The longer the war went on, the more other the Jedi became. There had always been something about them that made people wary, something more lurking just beneath the skin, something that made it feel like senses you didn't have were tingling when there was a Jedi around. But as the war drags on—as the Jedi see more sights that should never be seen, have to make decisions that should never have to be made, have to watch more people that they have come to care about die—what lurked beneath their skin escapes and the other grows ever more apparent: their eyes are too dark and hold voids and nebulae and eons, their teeth are too sharp for their species, their hair seems to move on its own, and when they move it is like a predator, still graceful, but with a wild fierceness, not the calm they have for centuries projected.

Ooooh, eldritch Jedi. I love that concept, and I love how you describe them as scary, but still beautiful.

Ooo, very neat! I love seeing a fic that captures just how creepy Jedi (and Force users in general) probably seem to the average citizen of the galaxy. And I love the idea of the Jedi's participation in the Clone Wars turning them into something else.

Eldritch!Jedi are so fascinating and I really like this take on them, how the war exacerbates their stranger qualities for both themselves and others.

Warm bodies, Julie

They give up board games and parties and dancing at first; a small sacrifice, considering. Then they give up stories and books, music and art, kindness and gentleness, dreams and empathy and love. Obsolete luxuries, her grim-faced father says; they need to focus everything on fighting the Dead, to survive. And Julie gets him, except not really, because what use is being alive when you're not living.

When R plays a record for her, when he smiles and jokes despite his crappy speech and his long-dead pulse - maybe we're not so different after all, Julie thinks, and the thought that should cause her dread instead fills her with hope.

Love this narrative so much - her father's idea of sacrifice, and the similarities between the living and the dead, and Julie finding a way to get the things worth living for back again.
