Welcome to the 2023 Three Sentence Ficathon!

This post will remain open for new prompts until we hit 4000 comments, at which point we'll open a new one to avoid captcha as long as possible. New fills and comments on fills will always be welcome.

How to Prompt

Prompts should be one prompt per comment, formatted in this way: fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence

Example: Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand

Prompts may also be open ended, unspecific, or anthropomorphic, such as:

any, any, I don't like sand
or
Earth geography, sand, I don't like humans very much, either

Prompts for relationships are welcome; a / is used for romantic/sexual relationships and an & for platonic. A prompt that uses both means the relationship can be written as either romantic or platonic, such as:

Star Wars, Anakin/&Obi-Wan, I don't like sand

Prompts may be repeated if they are unfilled; there is no obligation to read through every prompt to make sure yours isn't a repeat. This year's 3SF will stay open for new prompts through Sunday, February 12th.

How to Fill

Respond to your chosen prompt with a short fic of three sentences containing the fandom & characters requested!

Prompts can be filled more than once, as many times as someone has a new idea for them.

Notes & Rules

No, fills do not need to be exactly three sentences! It's more of a guideline. Please abuse grammar and punctuation as much as desired.

3SF is a Choose Not to Warn space. Spoiler and content warnings are not required, though writers are free to add them if they please. If you see something you don't like, just scroll until you do!

A Dreamwidth account is not needed to participate. Anonymous prompts/fills are welcome, or you can use Open ID.

Any, any, sea-coloured

It isn’t until they are caught in the stillness of the Silver Sea that Lucy truly notes the color of Caspian’s eyes; she’s noticed it before, of course, but she had never stopped to look—really look, as she does now, perched in the mouth of the dragon-head prow, with the sun slanting over both of them in a pleasant spill of warmth.

Surrounded by the stillness and filled with light, feeling the cord that’s grown between them grow stronger still, she sees that his eyes are the same deep blue as the sea that spreads around them, carpeted with lilies, and she can’t bring herself to look away.

He turns to her, and she feels the cord between them anchor itself and tighten as he smiles and takes her hand in his, and they stay there until the bright ribbons of sunset stretch across the horizon.

There is no word for the color of Achilles' eyes, nor the color of the sea, and Patroclus thinks that is right. Because they are the same color, and because Achilles' mere existence is a high tide, the swells of it frothing around Patroclus' shoulders as he waits for it to leave him for the infinity of the ocean.
Sometimes, selfishly, he prays that a riptide will take him first.

Ohh, this is amazing!

Green, Thor heard, and wondered if anyone but him ever looked at his brother's eyes - green, yes, but a thousand shades of green, shaded with blues and tinged with silver sparkle at the very edge of perception, just when one was about to look away.

It's his creepy shapeshifting, Thor heard from his friends, and scowled by reflex but also shook his head - he knew what Loki's shifts were like - had he not been the one Loki practised with for hour upon hour before he might ever show a trick before anyone else? - and his endlessly changeable eyes were naught to do with his endlessly changeable form.

Loki, Thor whispered, and his brother stirred against his side, opening eyes as mysteriously shifting, as impervious to quantification, as beautiful as the depths of the sea . . . as his brother, down to his quicksilver soul.
