This post will remain open for new prompts until we hit 4000 comments, at which point we'll open a new one to avoid captcha as long as possible. New fills and comments on fills will always be welcome.


How to Prompt

Prompts should be one prompt per comment, formatted in this way: fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence

Example: Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand

Prompts may also be open ended, unspecific, or anthropomorphic, such as:

any, any, I don't like sand
or
Earth geography, sand, I don't like humans very much, either

Prompts for relationships are welcome; a / is used for romantic/sexual relationships and an & for platonic. A prompt that uses both means the relationship can be written as either romantic or platonic, such as:

Star Wars, Anakin/&Obi-Wan, I don't like sand

Prompts may be repeated if they are unfilled; there is no obligation to read through every prompt to make sure yours isn't a repeat. This year's 3SF will stay open for new prompts through Sunday, February 12th.

How to Fill

Respond to your chosen prompt with a short fic of three sentences containing the fandom & characters requested!

Prompts can be filled more than once, as many times as someone has a new idea for them.

Notes & Rules

No, fills do not need to be exactly three sentences! It's more of a guideline. Please abuse grammar and punctuation as much as desired.

3SF is a Choose Not to Warn space. Spoiler and content warnings are not required, though writers are free to add them if they please. If you see something you don't like, just scroll until you do!

A Dreamwidth account is not needed to participate. Anonymous prompts/fills are welcome, or you can use Open ID.

Cross-posting is encouraged; there is a 3SF Collection on AO3 if you'd like to post fills there as well.

Narnia, Lucy/sea girl, the horizon is an illusion

"What's on the other side of this sea?" Lucy asks suddenly, even if she had been enjoying the cozy silence the same as her companion.

"Nothing," the sea girl murmurs against her throat, sleepy from the sun beating down on them where they lay; she isn't used to this much sun, but she could learn to love it if it meant more of all this with Lucy.

"Nothing? That can't--are you sure?"

The girl sighs as sits up to frown at the confusion in Lucy's gaze. "My people set expeditions out in all directions in the past. To the west, they meet your lonely islands and have seen the shores of unending land. To the north and south, they have found great reefs and icebergs. But to the east? There is nothing. One group traveled east for three months and still found nothing. So, it is as I said. There is nothing because otherwise my people would have found it."

Lucy frowns, looking up at the blue heavens that stretch on into forever. "It's said that Aslan's father lives out here. The Emperor beyond the Sea. That's why Caspian has brought his people out here... are you sure there is nothing out there?"

"Nothing," she says, pauses, and then speaks again. "Except for a great sandbar, but it only appears for a few short hours. Your ship will run itself aground upon it." With a shrug, she flops back down against Lucy's shoulder. "If you are lucky, the high tide might push you free and then you will come back here. When that happens, you'll find me here. You'll see."

Lucy is quiet as her companion curls against her, and tries to think. Was Caspian's continued voyage really for nothing? What if there really was nothing out there? Reepicheep would be devastated, but what could be done? Should she tell the others, or let them find out for themselves on the off chance that maybe they would succeed where the sea people hadn't?

And why didn't she feel all that upset by the idea that they would just be coming right back this way shortly if what her companion said was right?

Love the sea girl's clear-eyed view of things, and Lucy's beginnings of hope at the end. The sea girl want what is, Lucy wants just this.

Also you're gonna compile all these Lucy/sea girl and post it on ao3, right?? :D

Oh, definitely. Usually I just toss all my LWW under one story on ao3, but since that is already got eighty entries, I might just start collecting the fills into their own story by pairings. I was thinking of doing that for the Susan/Edmund fills, so I'll probably also just do that for the Lucy/Sea Girl ones. Which means I should do more fills for them, it make it worth the effort. P:
