2023 Three Sentence Ficathon - Post #1

Welcome to the 2023 Three Sentence Ficathon!
As of 16 Jan 2023 this post is NOW CLOSED TO NEW PROMPTS! PLEASE POST YOUR NEW PROMPTS HERE, IN POST 2! Do continue to fill prompts here but please put all new prompts in Post 2.

This post will remain open for new prompts until we hit 4000 comments, at which point we'll open a new one to avoid captcha as long as possible. New fills and comments on fills will always be welcome.

How to Prompt

Prompts should be one prompt per comment, formatted in this way: fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence

Example: Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand

Prompts may also be open ended, unspecific, or anthropomorphic, such as:

any, any, I don't like sand
or
Earth geography, sand, I don't like humans very much, either

Prompts for relationships are welcome; a / is used for romantic/sexual relationships and an & for platonic. A prompt that uses both means the relationship can be written as either romantic or platonic, such as:

Star Wars, Anakin/&Obi-Wan, I don't like sand

Prompts may be repeated if they are unfilled; there is no obligation to read through every prompt to make sure yours isn't a repeat. This year's 3SF will stay open for new prompts through Sunday, February 12th.

How to Fill

Respond to your chosen prompt with a short fic of three sentences containing the fandom & characters requested!

Prompts can be filled more than once, as many times as someone has a new idea for them.

Notes & Rules

No, fills do not need to be exactly three sentences! It's more of a guideline. Please abuse grammar and punctuation as much as desired.

3SF is a Choose Not to Warn space. Spoiler and content warnings are not required, though writers are free to add them if they please. If you see something you don't like, just scroll until you do!

A Dreamwidth account is not needed to participate. Anonymous prompts/fills are welcome, or you can use Open ID.

Cross-posting is encouraged; there is a 3SF Collection on AO3 if you'd like to post fills there as well.

Note that the comm is searchable! Tick the 'include comments' button when searching to easily find prompts for your chosen fandom/characters.

And most importantly, have fun! If you have questions, check the Sticky Info post and if they're not answered there, head to the Contact the Mods post.

In the end, there was only ashes. Lucy always had the impression the wardrobe was indestructible. They would have to find another way back.

"...it won't open!" Peter finally shouts and his voice sounds strange. "Hurry and go backwards!" When they step back through the branches, the four monarchs look down at themselves, half expecting to see something strange about their bodies after the oddness of the tree boughs and the locked door, but they are the same as they have been for years. Even Peter's voice is returned to normal.

The whole thing is met with shrugs and confusion as they returned to their horses, and a good bit of teasing for Lucy, who can't explain why she HAD to go through the damn branches.

On the other side of the wardrobe, the professor laughs as the doors stops jiggling against the length of string he wound against the knobs to tie it shut. Break one of his expensive windows, eh? Well, one good trick deserved another--he'd untie it in a few minutes and they'd have a good laugh.

Aslan sits, watching the whole thing, and breaks out into a nervous sweat as he tries to figure out how much his plans for Narnia are going to have to change now.

This is so great!! But now I'm just imagining the cold sweat the Professor might have when he finally opens the door and find it empty...but then he does know that it was made from Narnian wood...so maybe he would still have an inkling of where they are?

I was thinking of one of the outtakes from the Walden Media version, where the actor playing the Professor clocked the poor kid playing Edmund in the head with a ball and just laughs at him, so I'm thinking the professor tied it up, laughed at his prank, and then wandered off for an hour. Then he came back, untied it, and the kids really did fall out but it turns out they ended staying nearly sixty more years than expected, so they get even MORE stories to tell him.

He was quite pleased with himself and teased them all that technically they're all older than him.

Meanwhile, Aslan's huffing and panting in Narnia just going "phew... crisis averted." because he's spent the last decades trying to make sure the timeline doesn't go off the rails.

"This wasn't in Dad's grand plan!! Oh, shit, I gotta fix this before he finds out!"

Aslan then spends decades in Narnian time trying to do the ol' guilty kid tries to hide a mess from their parents until they can find a way out of trouble.

Susan and Lucy, According to Tolerance

[personal profile] silveradept 2023-01-13 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
The tailors of Cair Paravel eventually learned to include flexibility for the clothes of all of the Kings and Queens of Narnia. In addition to the ease at which Queen Lucy was able to destroy fine dresses and skirts from her daily activities, Queen Susan once had an outfit fall apart at the stitching while she was drawing to assist in the defense of the realm. Rather than retreat from the field, Queen Susan proceeded to thrash the invading force in her smallclothes, shouting "Honi soit qui mal y pense!" at any who looked upon her with disapproval.

a trip to Charn

[personal profile] elementalraven 2023-01-14 11:52 am (UTC)(link)
The wardrobe makes a strange, cracking sound and when they tumble out they find themselves on the edge of a ruined city under a blood red sky. They huddle together against the (snowless) cold and survey the fallen pillars and broken walls and, reassuringly, the blades of green shooting up from the surrounding rubble- life enduring even in such a desolate place.

โ€œWell,โ€ says Queen Lucy, โ€œwe are certainly not in Narnia anymore.โ€

Narnia, The One With the Purple Shirt

[personal profile] snacky 2023-01-15 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh no!" Lucy gasped as all heads in the court whipped round to stare at Caspian, but Edmund burst into laughter.

"Did his shirt just blow off?" Susan asked, eyes wide with amazement.

Peter just shook his head and reached out to grab the purple shirt as the wind whipped it by over his head. "What else?"

(I know you meant this as a pun but I couldn't resist taking it literally :D)

LOL of course even nature itself realizes Caspian should be as naked as possible for the good of all. I approve.
