The Corpsewitch rests her hand against his naked and clammy chest and hardly cares that his eyes are a pitless black, much like the icy depths of the darkest of waters. All that matters is the shape of his smile, the way the corner of his lip curves upward as he reaches out to clumsily rest his hand on top of hers. Her heart races excitedly in her chest; she’s pulled him from the darkest depths of death and restored him back to life.
"Matthias," Nina says quietly as she smiles wetly. She ignores the tears that warm her frozen cheeks as he lies enveloped in the gentle embrace of the snow. He removes his hand from hers to cup her face, and while his eyes aren’t the endless blue sea she’d loved diving into, she knows she can fix it with time.
