This post will remain open for new prompts until we hit 4000 comments, at which point we'll open a new one to avoid captcha as long as possible. New fills and comments on fills will always be welcome.


How to Prompt

Prompts should be one prompt per comment, formatted in this way: fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence

Example: Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand

Prompts may also be open ended, unspecific, or anthropomorphic, such as:

any, any, I don't like sand
or
Earth geography, sand, I don't like humans very much, either

Prompts for relationships are welcome; a / is used for romantic/sexual relationships and an & for platonic. A prompt that uses both means the relationship can be written as either romantic or platonic, such as:

Star Wars, Anakin/&Obi-Wan, I don't like sand

Prompts may be repeated if they are unfilled; there is no obligation to read through every prompt to make sure yours isn't a repeat. This year's 3SF will stay open for new prompts through Sunday, February 12th.

How to Fill

Respond to your chosen prompt with a short fic of three sentences containing the fandom & characters requested!

Prompts can be filled more than once, as many times as someone has a new idea for them.

Notes & Rules

No, fills do not need to be exactly three sentences! It's more of a guideline. Please abuse grammar and punctuation as much as desired.

3SF is a Choose Not to Warn space. Spoiler and content warnings are not required, though writers are free to add them if they please. If you see something you don't like, just scroll until you do!

A Dreamwidth account is not needed to participate. Anonymous prompts/fills are welcome, or you can use Open ID.

Cross-posting is encouraged; there is a 3SF Collection on AO3 if you'd like to post fills there as well.

"You shouldn't have come after me," Cloud says, the first thing he says once he's got enough of the Mako out of his system to be capable of speech. "Wasn't worth the risk to Sephiroth - hey!"

"So much for being gentle with the invalid," Sephiroth mutters for the next bed over, Zack muffling a cackle in the chair beside him.

Aerith ignores them both, straddling Cloud's waist and clasping his face in both her hands. "Listen, you," she scolds. "I've never chosen between any of my boys and I refuse to start now. You are worth it, and so is Sephiroth, and so is Zack - got it?"

"...yeah. I got it."

"You look rather as though you've been through the wars, old chap," the Doctor observed, stroking his chin in a mild bit of confusion; he and Jo had returned to the lab after a rather frustrating adventure caused by the Brigadier and his simply ridiculous calls upon the Doctor's time to find a rather injured-looking man rummaging through his things!

The man paused, and turned, the face partially obscured by the decrepit cowl not doing much to change the first impression of injured badly, and said, "Oh, how tiresome. I was quite hoping to avoid this incarnation."

"Oh--" Jo cut off her statement with a horrified gasp, "Oh, you poor thing--"

"Ah, Miss Grant." The man picked up one of the pieces of the TARDIS that the Doctor had been reconstructing, and tucked it away somewhere (he didn't appear to have pockets), "Such a sympathetic child."

"Now, look here," the Very Firm Tone evident in his voice, the Doctor strode forward, "Do put that piece of my equipment back and let us take you to the infirmary."

Or the brig; the Doctor would quite like the almost-thief to be locked up for such effrontery.

"I'm afraid that won't be possible. You see, Doctor," the sneer was quite evident, even if the burnt lips of his mouth couldn't manage it, "I'm here to save the Earth."

And really, how utterly predictable they all were, the Master mused much later. The Doctor fell in like a proverbial clock-work soldier. Miss Grant plied sympathy and tea, and in the end he almost absconded with her (if only to annoy the Doctor and put her to use succoring his prisoners when he needed them empathized with and not tortured). Though she never did stop looking at him as though she could save him from himself.

As he'd said, quite tiresome.

Oh no, poor Susan! Narnia fucked up her timeline so bad, didn't it. And of course Jon would not want to cause her any more pain, sob.

"It’s really strange," Bucky says as he intentionally looks away from her, "that after everything I’ve forgotten, you’re the one thing that’s remained constant in my memory."

"That sounds like a burden," Natasha teases lightly, although the corners of her lips never quite rise into a full smile.

He shrugs. "Not to me."

When he moves into the small hut in the Wastes, Obi-Wan digs the wooden box up once more. Hidden in the middle of the desert, he finds it with the Force, following the embers of a bond that feels like a ghost trapped in his chest without escape.

Anakin's lightsaber hasn't changed in the decade it's been hidden away in the sand, but Obi-Wan has; he greets the ghost with resigned, pained affection and takes the box home with him to wait for the inevitable.

Elsewhere University: Mirror Magic

They say you can have a lot of fun with a mirror -- that you can use it to catch the stars from the sky, a laughing friend or your own face, maybe a closed door -- and hold it in the palm of your hand.

They're lying.

You can't catch anything but light, nothing but a mocking facsimile of reality -- and if you're unlucky, you might fall into it and discover that personally.

Ohhhh, this is beautiful! I always love Lucy on the Dawn Treader, and of course, remembering her life in Narnia. I also love how she finds joy, even if she knows it's an ending.
