How to Prompt

Prompts should be one prompt per comment, formatted in this way: fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence

Example: Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand

Prompts may also be open ended, unspecific, or anthropomorphic, such as:

any, any, I don't like sand
or
Earth geography, sand, I don't like humans very much, either

Prompts for relationships are welcome; a / is used for romantic/sexual relationships and an & for platonic. A prompt that uses both means the relationship can be written as either romantic or platonic, such as:

Star Wars, Anakin/&Obi-Wan, I don't like sand

Prompts may be repeated if they are unfilled; there is no obligation to read through every prompt to make sure yours isn't a repeat. This year's 3SF will stay open for new prompts through Sunday, February 12th.

How to Fill

Respond to your chosen prompt with a short fic of three sentences containing the fandom & characters requested!

Prompts can be filled more than once, as many times as someone has a new idea for them.

No, fills do not need to be exactly three sentences! It's more of a guideline. Please abuse grammar and punctuation as much as desired.

3SF is a Choose Not to Warn space. Spoiler and content warnings are not required, though writers are free to add them if they please. If you see something you don't like, just scroll until you do!

A Dreamwidth account is not needed to participate. Anonymous prompts/fills are welcome, or you can use Open ID.

Person of Interest, Root & Shaw

Somewhere along the way of rescuing their latest number, they’ve managed to end up tied up in a dark room for hours, where even Root’s precious Machine can find no escape out of, unless— Shaw looks over at Root, who’s glassy-eyed, barely conscious from lack of blood, but who still manages to give her a smile that’s both weak and predatory. Shaw sighs, offering her arm out, and feels Root latch on with sharp teeth, drinking greedily. Seconds later, Root has snapped their handcuffs, thrown all of the people guarding them across the room, and escapes with Shaw in tow.

Fill: Person of Interest, Harold Finch & Root

“Ms. Groves—-“ Finch starts, but Root cuts him off.

“Samantha Groves died a long time ago.”

Finch stares at her, a little open-mouthed, then amends his words, “Ms. Root, then?”

Chloe sits inside the empty church and shudders. She forces herself to take a fortifying breath but it’s not enough, the tears leak out anyway. She’d been so stupid, letting Lucifer follow her around like an excited puppy, becoming friends, becoming partners, trusting him, believing every one of his lies, letting him build up an image of himself that she cared about— that she was starting to fall in love with.

Fill: set during s4e2, holy shit this got long

I'll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife

As much as Lucifer can’t (or he says he can’t— he is the devil, and Chloe knows it’s an insane thought, but she’s sure that Lucifer has never lied to her) lie to Chloe, it kills her to lie to him as well.

“Wait!” she says, grabbing for the poisoned glass of wine Lucifer is raising to his mouth. “I—”

“You what?” Lucifer asks, looking concerned. “Detective, whatever it is, you can tell me anything.”

And with that, Chloe spills the whole story, her “vacation”, meeting Father Kinsley, the vial of poison she’d slipped into his drink. Lucifer stares at her for a long time, expression warring between betrayal, anger, and something soft and intense that she can’t quite decipher, before letting out a long sigh, seeming to come to some sort of realization.

“What is it?” Chloe asks.

“I want to hate you for killing me, but I don’t. I only hate that you’ve been keeping this from me. I think that…” He pauses. “If you tried to kill me, I would let you.” He admits. “Just…not with poison. That’d be a really boring way to die. Plus, it would absolutely ruin wine for me. Although, I suppose that wouldn’t matter, since I’d be dead—”

“Stop. Stop.” Chloe says, shaking her head. “You…you would let me kill you? Why?”

“I would let you do anything.” He says, simply, and God, Chloe knows she should believe it’s a lie, but the way he’s looking at her, it’s so earnest it seems to burn through her, settling inside her gut in a way that feels like truth.

Lucifer gets up and rummages through a cabinet, then, and pulls out a knife, handing it handle-first to her. Chloe watches, almost in a trance, as he unbuttons the first few buttons of his white shirt and guides her hand to hold the knife at his heart, the tip of it brushing against his bare skin and drawing a cut.

Chloe’s brows knit together in confusion as she watches a bead of blood drip down his chest. “Lucifer?”

“Yes, Detective?”

“How is it that you can walk away from a hail of bullets or a fiery explosion unharmed, but you’re bleeding now?”

His gaze is molten as he tells her, “It’s because of you.”

“Me?”

“I don’t know exactly why, but no one else can hurt me. You’re the only one, Chloe.”

Chloe looks down at the knife, remembering the time she shot him, his insistence that she wouldn’t hurt him. And other moments, when he jumped in front of a knife for her or was shot in the hand, or when he’s sitting next to her doing paperwork at her desk at the precinct and is surprised every time he gets a paper cut. He’s only vulnerable around her, just as she is vulnerable around him.

Chloe drops the knife to the floor and steps even closer to Lucifer, until their faces are inches apart. When she looks in his eyes she swears she feels some sort of magnetic pull, something that wants her to close those few inches, so she closes her eyes just for a moment to clear her head, leaning her forehead against his.

“What are you doing to me?” Lucifer murmurs. His breath ghosts over Chloe’s skin. The desire is still there, still lead-heavy and somehow feather-light at the same time. She knows without a doubt that if Lucifer asked her what she desired most in the world right now, her answer would be him.

Chloe opens her eyes, tilting her head up to meet his gaze again, and then presses her lips to Lucifer’s. Her desire is unleashed, electric; he kisses her like he could worship her. She wraps her hands around his neck and pulls him even closer, not wanting an inch of space between them, the knife on the floor long-forgotten.

Fill: Kevin Can F**k Himself, Patty/Allison

“I get to know you’re safe,” Allison says, and smiles, like that’s a good reason enough reason for her to frame Nick for Patty’s drug dealing so the cops don’t investigate her further; to keep her safe— Patty’s not used to this sort of caring from anyone, concern for her well-being, save sometimes Neil, if Kevin isn’t around. She feels like a lovesick high schooler now, as something in her chest flutters and she watches Allison the entire time she goes upstairs. Except she’s not a high schooler, she’s 33, and God, she can’t feel like this, not about Allison, things are already complicated enough—they’re planning to murder her husband, for Christ’s sake—without adding whatever nascent feelings she’s got into the mix.

Fill: The only Heaven I’ll be sent to/Is when I’m alone with you

Leaving Hell puts the thought, one that tears like a physical ache, in Lucifer’s mind: When Chloe dies, he will not be joining her in Heaven. He waits by her side, watching the soft rise and fall of her chest, and when she wakes and smiles at him, he swears she looks like an angel. Yes, he thinks, one day she will die, but for now, there will be many more years before death, many more years of living and loving and being partners, and that is Heaven enough for him.

“I have this fantasy,” Allison says, looking off into the distance like she can see it playing out for her in the air, “where I’ve killed Kevin with Oxys, made it look like an overdose, and I tell the story to the waitress at the restaurant I’m at, where I’m finally able to read a book in peace.”

“Okay…” says the cashier at the convenience store, ringing up her order and handing Allison her change forcefully like she wants to get rid of her.

“But that’s all it is: a fantasy, an impossible dream.”

Fill (Lucifer TV): AITA for not letting my partner know I’m the actual Devil?

So, a little bit of backstory: I (M13,700,000,000) work as a civilian consultant for the L.A. police department with my incredible partner (F36), who I’ll call “the Detective” for privacy’s sake. I’ve grown very close to her over the few years we’ve been working together, and she’s the only one that I am truly vulnerable around.

I’ve always been honest with her, and it’s no secret that I’m the Devil— I broadcast that loud and clear all the time. But she doesn’t believe me. The Detective has always thought it was some sort of persona that I inhabit due to family issues, but supported me nonetheless.

My therapist (hello, Linda, if you’re reading this) told me I’m scared to let her see my true face because I care too much about what the Detective thinks of me, which is true. Her opinion is all that matters. However, I have tried to prove it to her. It’s just that every time I’m trying to tell her I’m actually the Devil, some sort of situation ensues: she shoots me with her gun and I start bleeding, or I get abducted and thrown in the desert, etc, etc. It’s like I’m in a sitcom, honestly.

Anyway, a few months ago, this guy who she almost married (long story), I’ll call him Pain because that’s what he causes me, was trying to kill me, and the Detective, being who she is, stepped in front of me and shot Pain, but then one of Pain’s henchmen shot her and she fell back onto me. I was furious, and used my angel wings to shield her (she didn’t see this since she was unconscious) and then left her on the roof, where it was safe, so I could go back and fight Pain. Unfortunately, she walked back into the room right after I’d killed Pain, and my devil face was present and she saw it. She said something like “It’s all true”, and seemed like she was in a state of shock, and now she’s been on “vacation” for several months and I’m concerned that I may have scared her away forever.

I (36F) almost tortured someone (~30F) and am wondering how I should ask her out?

Maybe this should be r/dating_advice, but I’m sure we’ll end up together eventually. I really just need advice on how to start.

I (36F) met the most interesting woman I’ve ever seen (~30F) yesterday. I’ve been a big fan of her ever since I read her file. I was posing as a contact of her partner in the ISA while searching for an artificial superintelligence (don’t ask), and after she discovered the person I was posing as tied up in the bathtub, I revealed myself and was about to torture her with an iron (she was super into it) but I had to leave because my boss called.

I don’t know where she went after that, but I can track her down wherever she is and send her a message. I was thinking something like, “Hey, not sorry about trying to torture you, but do you want to get dinner sometime? Signed, your #1 fan”

If anyone has any better ideas, please let me know!!
