This post will remain open for new prompts until we hit 4000 comments, at which point we'll open a new one to avoid captcha as long as possible. New fills and comments on fills will always be welcome.


How to Prompt

Prompts should be one prompt per comment, formatted in this way: fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence

Example: Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand

Prompts may also be open ended, unspecific, or anthropomorphic, such as:

any, any, I don't like sand
or
Earth geography, sand, I don't like humans very much, either

Prompts for relationships are welcome; a / is used for romantic/sexual relationships and an & for platonic. A prompt that uses both means the relationship can be written as either romantic or platonic, such as:

Star Wars, Anakin/&Obi-Wan, I don't like sand

Prompts may be repeated if they are unfilled; there is no obligation to read through every prompt to make sure yours isn't a repeat. This year's 3SF will stay open for new prompts through Sunday, February 12th.

How to Fill

Respond to your chosen prompt with a short fic of three sentences containing the fandom & characters requested!

Prompts can be filled more than once, as many times as someone has a new idea for them.

Notes & Rules

No, fills do not need to be exactly three sentences! It's more of a guideline. Please abuse grammar and punctuation as much as desired.

3SF is a Choose Not to Warn space. Spoiler and content warnings are not required, though writers are free to add them if they please. If you see something you don't like, just scroll until you do!

A Dreamwidth account is not needed to participate. Anonymous prompts/fills are welcome, or you can use Open ID.

Under the table where no one can see, Susan takes his hand and twines their fingers together. He runs his thumb over the back of her hand in silent question, and Susan laughs without missing a beat at the duke on her other side. She turns to Edmund with a brilliant smile and replies to both the duke and her brother, "Of course, why wouldn't I?"

Narnia, dark!Pevensies

It had taken them a while to defeat the witch and longer still to make Narnia their own, and then Archenland, Telmar, Calormen, until finally all the surrounding lands belonged to them as well. Of course, they had been children at the beginning, stupid and naïve, and it took time to learn to wield sword and dagger, to command armies, rule minds, and sharpen their every word and action to a deathly point, to eventually learn how to bend Narnia, itself, to their will (and by then, they had regretted so hastily killing the witch- she would have been more useful to them alive).

But after a couple of decades they had gotten… bored, bored of their unquestioned rule, bored of the fear and the awe and the lack of challenge- it had been a blessing, truly, when at last the Lion managed to force them out of his country and back into their own, and they would be sure not to waste it.

After the Accident, Susan has to go through her family's belongings, sift through the detritus of their lives, and try to decide what to keep, what to donate, and what to pitch. Each day is a new agony as she pulls out some new object and fresh memories would come rushing in, leaving her blinking back tears as she tries to not let herself keep one more unnecessary object.

How well she bears up! her neighbors say. How brave of her, her coworkers whisper.

"How silly," Edmund says in her dreams, when he sits on the edge of her bath, staring down at her in the cool waters. In her dreams, the bathwater always goes cold before he arrives.

"You weren't here to warm me up," she shoots back; he smirks at her and slides into the water.

"Am I not here now?" he asks as he rocks inside her until her limbs feel warm again, until she can feel alive again, until she is almost at the edge of euphoria and misery.

And then she awakes and her agony starts anew. "How silly," she mutters, scrubbing her eyes, and sits up to starts the process of sifting through household items once more.

Dig here, the soil whispers to Lucy until her fingers finds buried seeds that have been choked by weeds. Plant here, the ground beckons until she frees the dirt of rocks and directs the gardeners where to plow. Burn these, says the old woods until Lucy sets the torch that will clear the leaf litter and let trees finally release their seeds so that can grow into strong forests of their own. Lucy listens to nature until flowers grow on her brow, trees dance to her rhythm, and the dryads all call her Kore, the Spring Maid.

“What do you mean?” Shiyi Niang asked, looking up from where she was tucking Nuannuan into her cradle.

“I went to the market with Nanny Tao today, and Nanny Tao let me go buy a rooster from the vendor to make soup for you. And he said the rooster cost 5 copper coins! It could barely fly and wasn’t even as pretty as the one in the song! And it wasn’t rare at all! The vendor had dozens of them! There’s no way you can buy a rooster as pretty as the one in the song and bring it all the way her from Sichuan for only 3 copper coins!”

Shiyi Niang could only press her lips together to suppress her laughter at Zhun-ge’s very indignant complaint. At a loss for a response, she looked towards the Marquis for help.

Xu Lingyi chuckled and rose from where he was writing a report to the emperor at the desk and approached the warm partition where Zhun-ge was sitting. Sitting down next to his son, he said, “Zhun-ge, that song was written a long time ago, so it was accurate when it was written. After all, have you ever heard of a thing called inflation...?”

“How queer,” Lucy murmurs, as he stakes past, a bright blur of fur drifting past on an icy breeze, like a memory from a long ago world.

“You feel it too, then,” her brother says; across the rink, they watch as the wondrous orange bulk body-checks a player, sending him flying like a dwarf raked by great claws, though with considerably less blood.

“How could we help but know him, even in such strange guise?” Lucy cries, and lets herself fly across the slick surface, aging body forgotten, until she’s just a girl once more, enveloped in that softest of fur, surrounded like the glow of the sun.

I love the idea that the lack of statues becomes a part of a Narnian art bias.

The moment he steps into the throne room her skin flames; there are many people between them, and she doesn't think he knows she is there, but she can feel the air change now that he is here. He walks towards the throne, towards her father, and she follows, complete in step. She wonders if he can see any change in her - years since he last saw her - surely he can see it in her face, in her soul? She is no longer a child, and he, he is still the magnetic sun in her world. When he moves, she moves. He stops before her father, and she her entire body, being stills.

Please don't send him away, father. Please don't send him away from me.

Her uncle and her father hug and Rhaenyra releases the breath she didn't realise she held. Maybe this time would be different. Maybe this time he would see her, and not leave.





(Woops. I think this is the first time I've "broken" the three sentence rule...! Happy three sentence ficathon 2023. Lets have some fun!)
