This post will remain open for new prompts until we hit 4000 comments, at which point we'll open a new one to avoid captcha as long as possible. New fills and comments on fills will always be welcome.


How to Prompt

Prompts should be one prompt per comment, formatted in this way: fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence

Example: Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand

Prompts may also be open ended, unspecific, or anthropomorphic, such as:

any, any, I don't like sand
or
Earth geography, sand, I don't like humans very much, either

Prompts for relationships are welcome; a / is used for romantic/sexual relationships and an & for platonic. A prompt that uses both means the relationship can be written as either romantic or platonic, such as:

Star Wars, Anakin/&Obi-Wan, I don't like sand

Prompts may be repeated if they are unfilled; there is no obligation to read through every prompt to make sure yours isn't a repeat. This year's 3SF will stay open for new prompts through Sunday, February 12th.

How to Fill

Respond to your chosen prompt with a short fic of three sentences containing the fandom & characters requested!

Prompts can be filled more than once, as many times as someone has a new idea for them.

Notes & Rules

No, fills do not need to be exactly three sentences! It's more of a guideline. Please abuse grammar and punctuation as much as desired.

3SF is a Choose Not to Warn space. Spoiler and content warnings are not required, though writers are free to add them if they please. If you see something you don't like, just scroll until you do!

A Dreamwidth account is not needed to participate. Anonymous prompts/fills are welcome, or you can use Open ID.

Cross-posting is encouraged; there is a 3SF Collection on AO3 if you'd like to post fills there as well.

Narnia, Edmund/Susan, music playing from another room

The house is empty except for them--everyone trying desperately to find their own way to beat the heat. Lucy, driven to distraction by the summer weather, had left the wireless playing in the sitting room; Susan is humming along to the song against his neck.

"I should go shut that off," he says, but he won't with the way the sheets around coiled around their legs and their bodies tacky with more than sweat--too much effort.

She slaps his shoulder, gently. "Don't," she huffs, "I love this song."

He chuckles as she goes back to her humming. "You know, this was a terrible to try and ignore the heat."

"Oh?" She stops humming again, but there is something mischievous in her gaze as she pulls his face to hers. "I don't know about that."

Well, he thinks as she climbs on top of him, maybe he was a little hasty--they may not be any cooler, but he certainly has stopped caring about the heat.

Waving You On

Sometimes, he thinks he still has her, just for a moment; those times when he sees her from the corner of his eye, tall and proud, crowned in a wreath of her own hair; almost, he turns to her, and takes her in his arms, and buries his face in the curve of her neck, to whisper in her ear about the days when she wandered his rooms, clad only in the glory of that unloosed hair, the dark silky veil of it like a shadow under his hands.

And then he turns, and his sister is teenaged once more, coltish and skinny, all sharp angles, from the jut of her ankles to the edges of her hair, curling up at the length of her pert chin.

“Ed, darling, do cheer up,” she says, brushing by, pressing a quick kiss to his cheek, as though he’s a child too, “you look like someone’s died,” and he can’t catch her hand quickly enough to make her pause, can’t explain how true her aim still is.

I meant to make this fit more explicitly with the prompt...it's metaphorical music, okay??

Oh yeah this was a good one! Very proud of how it turned out tbh. The concept that something of them died when they were shoved back into child bodies/lives is a great one and not at all tragic and angsty, nope.

She can always cut him without even meaning to, that's how soft he is for her.

He hears the radio on when he comes in, knows that she already knows it's him (anyone else and she wouldn't be calm at all, would be moving to make sure she had angles of sight but he can hear her dancing a little still) and he shuffles his shoes on the mat a little louder anyways, takes them off and announces himself.

She's still listening to the music in the other room when he gets there, head tilted just a little, smile a little broader than normal, and he thinks perhaps it could be like old times, maybe, just for a little while, but he covers it in his old familiar smile and takes a step towards her.

"One dance, Edmund?" she says, and he takes the last step and holds onto her, sways the way she's asking.
