How to Prompt

Prompts should be one prompt per comment, formatted in this way: fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence

Example: Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand

Prompts may also be open ended, unspecific, or anthropomorphic, such as:

any, any, I don't like sand
or
Earth geography, sand, I don't like humans very much, either

Prompts for relationships are welcome; a / is used for romantic/sexual relationships and an & for platonic. A prompt that uses both means the relationship can be written as either romantic or platonic, such as:

Star Wars, Anakin/&Obi-Wan, I don't like sand

Prompts may be repeated if they are unfilled; there is no obligation to read through every prompt to make sure yours isn't a repeat. This year's 3SF will stay open for new prompts through Sunday, February 12th.

How to Fill

Respond to your chosen prompt with a short fic of three sentences containing the fandom & characters requested!

Prompts can be filled more than once, as many times as someone has a new idea for them.

Notes & Rules

No, fills do not need to be exactly three sentences! It's more of a guideline. Please abuse grammar and punctuation as much as desired.

3SF is a Choose Not to Warn space. Spoiler and content warnings are not required, though writers are free to add them if they please. If you see something you don't like, just scroll until you do!

A Dreamwidth account is not needed to participate. Anonymous prompts/fills are welcome, or you can use Open ID.

Cross-posting is encouraged; there is a 3SF Collection on AO3 if you'd like to post fills there as well.

Narnia, Susan, i like telling stories/but i don’t have to write them in ink/i can still change the end

Aslan had told all the siblings that they were supposed to grow close to their own world, and leave Narnia behind. But as Susan grew, seeking out what joys she could find in England after being banished from her own kingdom, she watched her brothers and sister become more and more lost in their memories and stories and trying to get back.

At the funeral, she sits stony-faced, hollow with grief that Aslan would punish them so harshly for disobedience. She'll be different. She'll live.

Yes, Susan is different and that's what's great about her! I like how she sees her siblings as 'lost' to their stories - of course they were, in the end.

ooohhh what a perfect twist on the ending of the story, one that makes so much sense and definitely a way you could read it! I love it

She doesn't keep a journal. She had once, before, in a different life that lies just under her tongue and just out of the corner of her eyes, had made sure she kept a clear view of the days and noted down anything vital, anything that would make her better the next time she met whomever had been at the meetings, the banquets, had even noted down (in code of course) her more intimate moments.

Here it would feel too final, too much of an ending, too much a surrender to what has happened and what the rest of her life will be now, so she notes the day on the page at the end and leaves the rest unwritten.

Once, Susan would sit on the couch, telling tales to her siblings who surrounded her, eyes laughing in excitement - but that was before their own fairy tale adventure and the abrupt return back to children bodies. Then, the four siblings would sit in a rings, discussing daily life and pondering bout what their now lost friends would be up to, discussions as serious as a war meeting, before she found their continued make believe in a world barred from them too much, and she ceased joining in.

Now, with her own three children looking up at her with bright eyes, Susan longs for those days, for they would mean her siblings would be with her still.

Awww, Susan. It's so sad that she wants her siblings still around when she's looking at her children! And thinking of their lost friends and responsibilities once they were stuck back as kids is also just heartbreaking.

Poor kids who were once adults have no idea what to do with themselves now they don’t have the responsibility of a kingdom weighing down on them
