Her investigation was going well, in spite of her inconveniently regenerating in the middle of it. None of the humans suspected her, and she’d found a surprising amount of satisfaction in running a busy household and veterinary practice—it was like a microcosm of how her people administered the universe. And before too long, she was sure, she’d accumulate enough evidence to know the real reason why the dangerous renegade criminal called the Doctor had, apparently, chosen to disguise himself as a hapless young vet.
