She’s on the porch again, head down, hands running through the blonde hair that seems to get more brittle every day, when she hears a slight sigh, looks out to her left, and there’s Patty, a cigarette on her lips and an expression on her face Allison can’t quite decipher. Patty jerks her head to the side and Allison gets the hint, scoots over so there’s room for Patty to sit next to her; the silence persists for a few minutes while Allison tries to figure out why Patty’s here and holds herself off from taking a drag of Patty’s cigarette herself—this, whatever they have right now, it’s not quite close enough for that; not a friendship, but an alliance, an understanding. Finally, Patty breaks the silence: “I know there’s no undoing the way I’ve been to you before, but I’m not here looking for absolution,”—she sees the question hovering in Allison’s eyes—-, “I’m here to help you kill Kevin.”
