Belle is an optimistic person by nature, but there are times when the gloom of the castle and the drudgery of the endless polishing and sweeping can best even the most positive of hearts. She's noticed, however, that on the days when she's feeling most blue, she need only sit for a moment at the kitchen window and before long a kaleidoscope of butterflies will appear as if from nowhere, all of their wings burnished in gold and dazzling in the sun, and her heart immediately swells and a smile lights her face as she watches them swoop and soar.

She never notices Rumplestiltskin hovering in the doorway, or the way his clever hands dip and swirl in time with the butterflies.
