Healing Spirit… The first time he hears that name is from Seth, but Joshua thinks he and the rest of the soldiers that call her such got it all wrong.

Natasha is grander than that because she mends more than broken flesh, more than splintered bones, more than hellish fevers; she soothes the frayed nerves of soldiers and villagers, victims and participants of this atrocious war than her own home started, lends an attentive ear and stretches her calloused but nonetheless charitable hands to those that need it most.

That’s not the work of a spirit, he thinks, but something higher, something more divine: Natasha is a woman of flesh and blood, walking the earth to save the unseen and forgotten out of genuine altruism, and, as blasphemous as she might think he’d sound, Joshua believes he should bend the knee whenever he has to address her.
