Before, Church’s mind was filled with the day-to-day minutiae of being a housecat: scraps of food dropped under the kitchen table, Ellie slipping him pieces of cheese, Gage pulling his tail.

A nap on the couch, a nap on the bed, a nap by the fireplace.

Now, however, something dark calls to his blood, blocking out everything of his former life…and it requires a blood sacrifice of its own.
