There's plenty Kasimir's never going to be able to get out of his head: the barricade coming down; that job with the Wardens; the sound of his leg breaking. But his own knife sticking out of his own throat's going to top the list from now on.

"We could have tried to reason with him -- you -- him," Edvard says, the first to recover from his stunned silence. "It's already worked once."

Kasimir shakes his head. "No reasoning with a man like that," he says, firm as a brick, and bends down to get his knife back so he doesn't have to see the others wondering what that says about him.
