Molly’s spent so long looking up at the stars - as a child, before going up there was ever a serious possibility, still always wanting to fly higher; that first time around, when for a moment she’d let herself hope there might be a chance; afterwards, when she cursed the damn sky and the damn government and NASA and men; after she'd been chosen - after Patty - when she’d at last looked upwards again and known this whole thing had to be worth it, and now -
Now, she’s seen this in reverse, Earth as tiny from up there as the moon looks from down here.
The stars shine around it in the distance. The moon, the stars, they're all really real, somewhere out there, every one of them. She’s touched one, walked on its surface with her own two feet -
Molly grins as she lets her head fall back. Someday, she’ll visit them all.
