How to Prompt

Prompts should be one prompt per comment, formatted in this way: fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence

Example: Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand

Prompts may also be open ended, unspecific, or anthropomorphic, such as:

any, any, I don't like sand
or
Earth geography, sand, I don't like humans very much, either

Prompts for relationships are welcome; a / is used for romantic/sexual relationships and an & for platonic. A prompt that uses both means the relationship can be written as either romantic or platonic, such as:

Star Wars, Anakin/&Obi-Wan, I don't like sand

Prompts may be repeated if they are unfilled; there is no obligation to read through every prompt to make sure yours isn't a repeat. This year's 3SF will stay open for new prompts through Sunday, February 12th.

How to Fill

Respond to your chosen prompt with a short fic of three sentences containing the fandom & characters requested!

Prompts can be filled more than once, as many times as someone has a new idea for them.

Notes & Rules

No, fills do not need to be exactly three sentences! It's more of a guideline. Please abuse grammar and punctuation as much as desired.

3SF is a Choose Not to Warn space. Spoiler and content warnings are not required, though writers are free to add them if they please. If you see something you don't like, just scroll until you do!

A Dreamwidth account is not needed to participate. Anonymous prompts/fills are welcome, or you can use Open ID.

oh man, excellent use of the canonical second person POV here, and this seems exactly like the kind of insane thing Harrow *would* do!

ahaha at the punchline, but the bit I love even more is "the menacingly large local unkindness spoke in an archaic variant that was only used for ceremonial cawings, and was, in fact, unkind". Nicely played all around! :D

Transformers (G1), Megatron/Optimus Prime

They'd fought the same fight they had for eons, bellowed the same arguments they had for eons, over a stretch of rusted metal that didn't even matter in the end, and when the fight went badly for the Autobots Optimus was deeply annoyed to find himself captured instead of deactivaged, for he knew from eons of experience that it meant Megatron wanted to continue their 'debate' in a more intimate setting.

"I'm tired, Megatron," Optimus rumbled resentfully once the Slagmaker had him alone. "Do as you will, but no more words tonight."

And Megatron frowned, but took him at his word; their coupling was fierce and merciless and powerful enough to make the lights flicker, and while Optimus was sure Megatron would have preferred his rival put up more of a fight, he was at least enough of a gentlemech to pin Optimus down and give him satisfaction worth the pain.

I absolutely do NOT mind and in fact I enjoy it very much! I also tend to think of them as the more Diplomatic Approach of the siblings usually, but in circumstances where they have to fight, my money would still be on them xD This is GREAT. I love stories where they are spymasters :3 Thank you for the fill!

Changing Customers

New spirits these days are ruder -- the spirits of modern things like electricity, bullet trains, neon or pollution are impatient and quick to take offense, sometimes sincerely but just as often as an intimidation tactic. They're the worst guests at Yubaba's bathhouse, noisy and rude and likely to demand to speak to whoever's in charge, as if it's their right.

Older spirits never ask to see the manager, because they understand that they'll be dealing with Haku or, worse, Yubaba herself.

Bleach, Kenpachi+Isane, Kenpachi/Unohana

“It’s been eight fucking years with-” and to prove his point, Zaraki Kenpachi’s body doubles over with such a forceful cough that rattles even the marrow inside Isane’s bones; his face paints red, glass dampens his eyes, and something redder hacks out of his mouth into the tissue she presses against his mouth: bile, phlegm, blood… and red poppies.

“Can you cure me, or something?” he asks, his voice hoarser than she’s ever known it to be as a storm of questions whirl inside Isane’s mind -Why did you wait eight years to tell me this? I could have helped you; Red poppies for remembrance, death, success and love; Surgery can help but you would never consent to it if you knew the source of the disease- yet she tells him she can and, after eons of debating what to do (this will hurt him far worse than a knife through the throat), reaching a decision (Isane is captain now and it’s her duty to save the lives of others), and rummaging through her personal possessions (“he must never know” were her instructions, but she had passed away eight years ago and her wish for him to live outweighed her words), she steps back into the exam room, pressing Unohana’s letter into his hand and ushering him to read it.

Sometimes medicine is far more bitter, far more crueler than the illness, proved by how his mouth tightens, how his throat bobs and how his fist tightens around the parchment; two more years pass and he stops coughing up red blooms altogether -but lifetimes can come and go and Isane still overhears him say “Yachiru.”

When the sacred becomes mundane, when you reduce the sacred to the facts and battle strategies and secret contacts and Johanna Constantine's little quips -- you don't need faith. What you need is a drink and the belief that you're doing this for the greater good. You take on cutesy nicknames like Ric the Vic because God works in mysterious ways, and one of the most effective ways is to drag the evil to the light and watch it burn, with a little help from the local ghostbuster (even if Johanna hates it when you call her that).

"Sleep well, my little prince." Jareth crooned, wild head bowed over her brother's bed as he drew up the coverlet, and Toby wriggled, grinning and laughing as Sarah's blood froze.

"Stars?" Toby begged, and Jareth grinned, taking a theatrical seat on the edge of the bed and wriggling his fingers, drawing starlight pouring down out of the night sky like liquid silver, winding around his fingers and spangling the air, dancing in time with his voice as he sang a story - one mismatched eye catching Sarah's through the cracked-open door, his sharp mouth tilting into a smirk.

It is hard being older than all of her peers. They are not immature, she does not enjoy the company of those who are truly immature, but her friends are still girls, and they laugh easily and worry about girlish things that Susan can no longer bring herself to be concerned with. It's isolating, and she wishes sometimes that she could be a girl again herself; it would be so much easier.

ngl, I have been pondering this idea lately and maybe I'll put it as a prompt for NFE, but just the idea of trying to escape heaven to save Your Very Heart--! I was imagining the other siblings doing it too, but if it's Edmund the themes would be of justice and What That Means, and him trying to find sneaky shortcuts across worlds... That's candy for my brain. Also I love What Dreams May Come, lol.
