This post will remain open for new prompts until we hit 4000 comments, at which point we'll open a new one to avoid captcha as long as possible. New fills and comments on fills will always be welcome.


How to Prompt

Prompts should be one prompt per comment, formatted in this way: fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence

Example: Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand

Prompts may also be open ended, unspecific, or anthropomorphic, such as:

any, any, I don't like sand
or
Earth geography, sand, I don't like humans very much, either

Prompts for relationships are welcome; a / is used for romantic/sexual relationships and an & for platonic. A prompt that uses both means the relationship can be written as either romantic or platonic, such as:

Star Wars, Anakin/&Obi-Wan, I don't like sand

Prompts may be repeated if they are unfilled; there is no obligation to read through every prompt to make sure yours isn't a repeat. This year's 3SF will stay open for new prompts through Sunday, February 12th.

How to Fill

Respond to your chosen prompt with a short fic of three sentences containing the fandom & characters requested!

Prompts can be filled more than once, as many times as someone has a new idea for them.

Notes & Rules

No, fills do not need to be exactly three sentences! It's more of a guideline. Please abuse grammar and punctuation as much as desired.

3SF is a Choose Not to Warn space. Spoiler and content warnings are not required, though writers are free to add them if they please. If you see something you don't like, just scroll until you do!

A Dreamwidth account is not needed to participate. Anonymous prompts/fills are welcome, or you can use Open ID.

She catches him, once, with a roll of parchment laid flat against his thigh as he scribbles notes by the fire; he realizes almost at once that he’s been seen, and moves to protect the parchment, but Jill is too fast for him.

“What is this?” she asks because honestly, that’s easier than trying to actually decipher his chicken scratch; she catches words like ember and glowing and the phrase chin tilted just so before Eustace manages to snatch the parchment back.

“It’s nothing,” he says, and only after much pestering does he relent: “The way you looked, sitting by the fire--I don’t know, I just thought maybe I’d write it down, that’s all.”

Candlelight flickers off the old cracked spines in the archive as Caspian rounds the corner, only to stop dead at the sight of another man--a stranger, with pale skin and dark hair, a thin frame, and eyes as sharp as a crow’s. The man has a book held open in the palm of one hand and, as if unsurprised by Caspian’s interruption, he immediately says, “Did you know that these fairy tales are considerably more accurate than any of those false history tomes your people wrote to cover up the existence of the true Narnian peoples?” Then, with a quirk of his eyebrows, he reshelves the book and walks away without a backward glance.

(Caspian follows the man, of course, but he has disappeared without a trace; in later days, he asks about the castle but no one, it seems, has ever seen the man with crow’s eyes.)

When they enter an outpost, it's back under the hood and scarves he goes; he is, after all, still a wanted criminal, even if he does walk with one of the heroes of the galaxy by his side. Still, it's not as bad as all that--they are both alive and neither has to walk their paths alone which is something not many can really claim after all the violence that came before.

All the same, sometimes Rey likes to live a little dangerously by buying a snack from a street vendor and reaching up to pull down one of the scarves hiding Ben's face to offer him a bite, but the truth is she's only doing it to see him give that amused smirk each time.

For so long, Lin-xiaoniang has been a towering presence in her life, one that cast long shadows over everything she did, from her lessons with Molan to her mother’s death in childhood.

Minglan unrolls the scroll Molan gave her when she moved into her new courtyard, to rub it in her face that her mother is dead and Molan’s a favored concubine. Look, she almost says, but holds herself back, Look at the seeds that you have sown. Look at how they have grown.
