How to Prompt

Prompts should be one prompt per comment, formatted in this way: fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence

Example: Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand

Prompts may also be open ended, unspecific, or anthropomorphic, such as:

any, any, I don't like sand
or
Earth geography, sand, I don't like humans very much, either

Prompts for relationships are welcome; a / is used for romantic/sexual relationships and an & for platonic. A prompt that uses both means the relationship can be written as either romantic or platonic, such as:

Star Wars, Anakin/&Obi-Wan, I don't like sand

Prompts may be repeated if they are unfilled; there is no obligation to read through every prompt to make sure yours isn't a repeat. This year's 3SF will stay open for new prompts through Sunday, February 12th.

How to Fill

Respond to your chosen prompt with a short fic of three sentences containing the fandom & characters requested!

Prompts can be filled more than once, as many times as someone has a new idea for them.

No, fills do not need to be exactly three sentences! It's more of a guideline. Please abuse grammar and punctuation as much as desired.

3SF is a Choose Not to Warn space. Spoiler and content warnings are not required, though writers are free to add them if they please. If you see something you don't like, just scroll until you do!

A Dreamwidth account is not needed to participate. Anonymous prompts/fills are welcome, or you can use Open ID.

She doesn't keep a journal. She had once, before, in a different life that lies just under her tongue and just out of the corner of her eyes, had made sure she kept a clear view of the days and noted down anything vital, anything that would make her better the next time she met whomever had been at the meetings, the banquets, had even noted down (in code of course) her more intimate moments.

Here it would feel too final, too much of an ending, too much a surrender to what has happened and what the rest of her life will be now, so she notes the day on the page at the end and leaves the rest unwritten.

HAVE I GOT NEWS FOR YOU

So I think starting in 2016 there was a 12 Monkeys tv series made, it's four seasons long, and it beautifully delves into so many of the ideas the movie brought up. (AND, Jeffry Goines gets made into Jennifer Goines, played by Emily Hampshire, and she's brilliant.) There's all kind of twisty timelines, and a beautiful love story between James Cole and Cassandra Railly, and Katarina Jones is a wonderful character. (And I'm a sucker for middle aged women who will take on the moral burden of doing what's necessary, in order to spare the consciences of those they love.)

I believe it's watchable on Hulu, and god, it's fantastic.

He says it as he starts falling, so quiet he can barely even hear it himself, knows that it's an impossible ask, knows that Clarke is so far away and not listening out for his dumb ass taking on too much, going too far, doing everything he always does the way he always does, a little too reckless, a little too top volume until the moment he needs help.

"Got you," Clarke says, in the same moment he feels the arms around him.

Narnia is the domain of Aslan, it's true, but he is not the only otherworldly figure that walks the land; there is Bacchus and his bride that come every year for the bacchanal, there is the river gods in every stream, and even Father Christmas every winter.

But there still older gods yet--Edmund meets a one eyed old man playing chess with a man with the head of an ibis and has to politely turn down their offer of letting him join them. Peter meets an unnerving old woman in a hut that walks on chicken legs in the north, but she was too busy bludgeoning a giant stupid enough to run afoul of her to notice the king, and frankly Peter was glad for it. Susan meets a strange woman on the side of the road, washing bloodied clothes in a stream, who looks at her and grins, saying "oh, don't worry, your majesty. These aren't the clothes of anyone you know."

Lucy encounters a strange creature as well--in the woods, late one night, she finds herself before a man so tall she almost mistook him for a giant at first. He has the hindquarters of a horse, but something tells her that he is not a real centaur any more than he is a normal man, and on his brow is a pair of massive antlers that almost look like a pair of branches. She gets the feeling that he is on the hunt and that she is in extreme danger, but then he nods to her and turns to go--whatever quarry he seeks, tonight it's not her. She watches him vanish into the trees before she can safely breathe again.

"Oi, don't understand the importance of a good waffle at midnight! Do you know how singular of an experience that is, in this whole universe?"

The companion side-eyes the Doctor, unsure if he's joking, but the Doctor shows every sign of sincerity. They sigh. "Alright, you're not wrong, but let's go to a Waffle House instead."

Katya steps out of the tight dress her husband had had made for her, just slightly too small, which she could have taken as a form of flattery, but instead just makes her uncomfortable. She unclips the pinching earrings from her ears, setting them on the vanity, and slowly removes the rest of her jewelry: the clasps of metal around her wrists, and the chain around her throat. They're all from him, every last one, and as she does every night, she dreams of walking invisibly out the balcony door, and leaving these precious shackles of gold and silver for good.
