This post will remain open for new prompts until we hit 4000 comments, at which point we'll open a new one to avoid captcha as long as possible. New fills and comments on fills will always be welcome.


How to Prompt

Prompts should be one prompt per comment, formatted in this way: fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence

Example: Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand

Prompts may also be open ended, unspecific, or anthropomorphic, such as:

any, any, I don't like sand
or
Earth geography, sand, I don't like humans very much, either

Prompts for relationships are welcome; a / is used for romantic/sexual relationships and an & for platonic. A prompt that uses both means the relationship can be written as either romantic or platonic, such as:

Star Wars, Anakin/&Obi-Wan, I don't like sand

Prompts may be repeated if they are unfilled; there is no obligation to read through every prompt to make sure yours isn't a repeat. This year's 3SF will stay open for new prompts through Sunday, February 12th.

How to Fill

Respond to your chosen prompt with a short fic of three sentences containing the fandom & characters requested!

Prompts can be filled more than once, as many times as someone has a new idea for them.

Notes & Rules

No, fills do not need to be exactly three sentences! It's more of a guideline. Please abuse grammar and punctuation as much as desired.

3SF is a Choose Not to Warn space. Spoiler and content warnings are not required, though writers are free to add them if they please. If you see something you don't like, just scroll until you do!

A Dreamwidth account is not needed to participate. Anonymous prompts/fills are welcome, or you can use Open ID.

His father shows him that a king drives his kingdom, his court, his family with his appetites and his strong arm (and his backhand); his mother teaches him that he should have everything he wants, as anyone of Lannister blood deserves. His grandfather lectures him about moderation every once in while, but Joffrey has read his histories, and he hardly thinks Grandfather showed moderation when he slaughtered the Reynes and the Tarbecks like the dogs they were - he wonders if Grandfather liked it when they begged and screamed, the way Joffrey likes it when Sansa is obviously trying not to cry.

Joffrey knows what a king is - a man who holds a kingdom in his fist and squeezes it as he likes - and he is as good at being a king as he knows to be.

Joffrey absolutely hated Winterfell when he first arrived - the rules, the new foster father and mother who made him actually mind those stupid rules, the new foster siblings who never held back from showing him up at lessons, the ugly heart tree and the horrible food and the ever-present awful bloody cold.

But the years passed, and somehow the rules started to feel more reasonable and the cold more comfortable, and when his father died and he came back to King's Landing for the first time since he was six he brought his foster family with him, for he could not imagine being the kind of king the realm needed without their love and their counsel.

And so in the years to come the people talked of the honor of King Joffrey, the king who brought justice to his vassals and his smallfolk and who brought the armies against the terrors from beyond the Wall - as good a king, they all agreed, as any king they knew to be.

To say that Toby had seen it all was a lie, but she'd seen quite a bit since Cross hired her and let her in on the whole anomalies plus time travel plus dinosaurs thing. Still, a field of golden flowers that took flight because they were butterflies, dancing around them, with no anomaly in sight and Cross counting down the minutes until it was predicted to close -- "Dylan?"

Dylan blew out a breath, then said weakly, "I guess we're gonna need a bigger net?"

“All I’ve ever wanted is for you to be who you really are,” she says, stepping close, as if daring him to flinch.

When he doesn’t, they both breathe a bit easier, some dead knot in Kaz’s chest easing a fraction apart, fiber by fiber.

"Well, it doesn't make sense, Sylvia," says Wander, as the roll through space, "I've met a lot of folks who didn't understand how nice it is to be nice, but I don't *remember* the last time I saw someone who acts *evil* like Dominator acts."

"Well..." says Sylvia, "listen, buddy, I know you like to help people without hurting anyone, but the galaxy's complicated like that, and sometimes, you just need a strong-armed zbornak to add a bit of extra *oomph,*" -she punctuates the word with a mimed punch - "y'know?"

Wander considers, in low spirits for a moment at the idea of violence as a solution, until... "Why Sylvia, I think you're right !" He exclaims, "I thought Hater could calm her down because they were both villains, but if she needs a special someone in her life, and I think she does, then maybe a strong-armed zbornak *is* exactly what she needs!"

“Well, you see, Reep, erm, sir, that is,” Eustace said, trying miserably to stay still and not twitch and flail about, though it was quite difficult under the circumstances, “it seems not every type of creature enjoys having a long, hairless, prehensile tail suddenly appear as part of their anatomy - and may I add, I am one of them!” he finished with a yelp, as his damned tail brushed across his bare calf for the third time in as many minutes, tickling the absolute hell out of him.

It's Will who finally approaches him about it and asks a question instead of just insisting they must be dating: "Are you really not dating Robin, because it really seems like you are and I don't understand."
"C'mere, kid," Steve shifts so that Will can settle in next to him before continuing—if there's one of the kids who he thinks might understand, even just a little, it's this one.
"No, I'm not dating Robin, but everyone thinks I am because they can see that we're, like, life partners and all of that stuff that usually goes along with dating and we love each other a lot but would never want to date each other; Robin and I will always be together, so a lot of people are going to be confused for a long time, but as long as we have each other it will all be fine," he tries to explain and knows he's not being anywhere near as articulate as he would like to be, but Will nods and seems to be understanding some and that's good enough for Steve.

He knows it's the fever and chills, the blood loss, the damn weakness that if only this sweet child's mother hadn't blundered in, maybe they could have saved her. He knows that she lost her own father and now she is orphaned twice over. He knows that it is the undeath that creeps into her veins and throttles her pure life.

Still, when she looks at him in delirium and agony, reaches for his hand, and calls to him in that terribly young voice "papa, it hurts", he can't help but reach and press a cool hand to her brow to soothe her.

"Shush, shush, my child," he murmurs. "It will be over soon. Rest."

"Don't leave me," she weeps, so softly. "It hurts so much."

"Shh, my child. I will stay, I will stay."
