This post will remain open for new prompts until we hit 4000 comments, at which point we'll open a new one to avoid captcha as long as possible. New fills and comments on fills will always be welcome.


How to Prompt

Prompts should be one prompt per comment, formatted in this way: fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence

Example: Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand

Prompts may also be open ended, unspecific, or anthropomorphic, such as:

any, any, I don't like sand
or
Earth geography, sand, I don't like humans very much, either

Prompts for relationships are welcome; a / is used for romantic/sexual relationships and an & for platonic. A prompt that uses both means the relationship can be written as either romantic or platonic, such as:

Star Wars, Anakin/&Obi-Wan, I don't like sand

Prompts may be repeated if they are unfilled; there is no obligation to read through every prompt to make sure yours isn't a repeat. This year's 3SF will stay open for new prompts through Sunday, February 12th.

How to Fill

Respond to your chosen prompt with a short fic of three sentences containing the fandom & characters requested!

Prompts can be filled more than once, as many times as someone has a new idea for them.

Notes & Rules

No, fills do not need to be exactly three sentences! It's more of a guideline. Please abuse grammar and punctuation as much as desired.

3SF is a Choose Not to Warn space. Spoiler and content warnings are not required, though writers are free to add them if they please. If you see something you don't like, just scroll until you do!

A Dreamwidth account is not needed to participate. Anonymous prompts/fills are welcome, or you can use Open ID.

Emelan, Briar Moss, this prompt never gets old

It's the sixth time Briar's been arrested and he's getting tired of the process. "Empty your pockets," the guard tells him, so he does — two knives, a few sewing needles, a dried marigold, a rock. "That can't be all," the guard says, "you've been in here before." Briar sighs and nudges his sleeve sheaths to open. The pile on the ground doubles in height. The guard looks satisfied. The knife in Briar's boot can wait until later.

Edmund/Peridan angst

As a child, there are certain truths that Edmund could not admit to--that he was frightened that the next falling bomb would be the one to kill him, that his father would never return from the battlefront, that he'd kissed James up the street and it was the sweetest thing he'd tasted--so he learned how to lie fast, if not well. It's a skill that serves him well even today--as spymaster, as a diplomat, as a politician.

Today, he looks Peridan in his eye and tells him that he's happy that he's found a good woman to marry, to run his lands, and bear him children. He waits until Peridan leaves, then locks the door, and dives for the bottle of brandy he's been saving for a special occasion. He wonders if his silver tongue is a boon or a curse and tries to drown the memories of a thousand little touches that left him burning and of a kiss that still keeps him warm at night.

Kaz’s hand didn’t shake as he traced the corner of her eye.

"What did you find?" Inej asked as she kept her breathing shallow. Her heart might roar like the sea beneath a Saint’s anger, but she wouldn’t allow the furious beating to cause a meagre ripple. The less Dirtyhands saw, the less he had to wield against her.

"Nothing," he murmured, keeping his gaze locked on his hand. He brushed his finger gently over her brow before lightly tapping her nose. "Just life."

I Will Follow You

He’d tried at the time to tell them the Fold was an accident, that he hadn’t actually torn a monster-birthing hole in his country intentionally, but, well - no one had believed in the goodness of a man who pulled shadows from his blood, not his whole life long, and they hadn’t been inclined to start then.

And now, so many years later, it’s still the same, still this girl, this sour, prickly little ball of light looking sidelong at him, saying, “So you don’t want to enlarge the Fold and use it to kill all your enemies?”

For a moment, he lets himself think of it, think of removing a King who’s corrupt and worse, think of killing indiscriminately as his Grisha have been killed, generations beyond counting, lets himself revel in the glory of what he could be, if he chose - and then he opens his eyes to the light, and smiles, and tell her no, as he must.

Peter is standing statue still at the bottom of the stairs, a mug of coffee untouched in his hand, when Lucy descends and looks into the kitchen to see what has his attention.

Susan is sitting on the counter, leaning down into Edmund’s embrace, dark hair masking whether she’s whispering in his ear or doing something else.

Lucy spots the brand of coffee her middle siblings used this morning and quickly swipes Peter’s mug out of his hand, sending it crashing into the ground; her only reply is a simple, “you don’t have to drink the Folgers.”
