How to Prompt

Prompts should be one prompt per comment, formatted in this way: fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence

Example: Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand

Prompts may also be open ended, unspecific, or anthropomorphic, such as:

any, any, I don't like sand
or
Earth geography, sand, I don't like humans very much, either

Prompts for relationships are welcome; a / is used for romantic/sexual relationships and an & for platonic. A prompt that uses both means the relationship can be written as either romantic or platonic, such as:

Star Wars, Anakin/&Obi-Wan, I don't like sand

Prompts may be repeated if they are unfilled; there is no obligation to read through every prompt to make sure yours isn't a repeat. This year's 3SF will stay open for new prompts through Sunday, February 12th.

How to Fill

Respond to your chosen prompt with a short fic of three sentences containing the fandom & characters requested!

Prompts can be filled more than once, as many times as someone has a new idea for them.

Notes & Rules

No, fills do not need to be exactly three sentences! It's more of a guideline. Please abuse grammar and punctuation as much as desired.

3SF is a Choose Not to Warn space. Spoiler and content warnings are not required, though writers are free to add them if they please. If you see something you don't like, just scroll until you do!

A Dreamwidth account is not needed to participate. Anonymous prompts/fills are welcome, or you can use Open ID.

"I don't understand why anyone wants to grow up," the young girl said to Queen Lucy, "and I can fix that, if you really want me to."

Lucy looked at the girl with the mismatched clothing and the multi-colored hair, her eyes widening as she realized who was offering her the chance to skip out on having to grow up again.

"It's a very kind offer," Lucy began before the world dropped away from her and she began to feel the happiness that comes on from having too much delight in too small a container to hold it all.

There is a stranger in Destiny's garden, a girl, one he does not expect and does not recognize; she is not supposed to be here.
"Destiny," she greets, sounding like a queen and not a girl, and somehow she knows him while he doesn't know her, "I was told I could find you here and that you might need my assistance with something?"
Destiny considers her, then opens his book to read, and yes, they will make a fine team, a very fine team indeed, he thinks as he offers Queen Susan his arm.

It wasn't that they weren't like their parents, Rex decided, after studying them on Endor for a while, waiting for a transport large enough to take them and their prisoners home.

It was that the two of them mixed up all the pieces of his General and the Senator, with the Princess quicker to temper and action like his General, and the Jedi like the Senator's hopes of finding the peaceful path backed by a willingness to do violence.

The flip of genders to the traits he saw made it amusing, and he kept filing the pieces away for whenever he saw ... well, for the future.

There is no need for sleep in Aslan’s Country, of course, but it survives regardless as one of the great pleasures of life, the ability to sink down into a downy featherbed, to bury one’s face in a cool pillow and burrow under the weight of pure white linens, the bedclothes heaped high as snow-covered hills.

So it is that Edmund sleeps, and dreams still, even here in paradise; so it is that the chill comes to him, the scent of powdered sugar on the edge of a breeze, a bright ringing of silver bells in his ears, and not the slightest fear to accompany them.

“My darling boy,” she says, her voice rich and thrilling as he remembers, “you’ve come home at last, and without your elder sister to deny us,” and when her white, white hands come alongside his face, Ed turns over in dreaming, and smiles.

"I don't know who you are," shouts Anakin next to him, barely audible over the noise, "but since you look like you know what you're talking about, have you ever heard of Darth Plagueis the wise!?"

"He is... no role model," says Darth Vader, the only words he can muster the attention for as he tries to get enough of a lock on Darth Binks to force choke him into submission.

“I’d have killed her myself, to get you back,” she confesses to him once, panted out against the heat of his skin as she sits in his lap, nails scoring his shoulders, everything in his world narrowing down to the point where she grinds against him. “You know that, don’t you?”

I wouldn’t have deserved it, feels too raw, he thinks, shuddering from passion, from fear, imagining Susan, wild eyed and mad, coated in the blood of a witch, and she might have said the same about you, darling, seems inappropriate, sunk deep inside her, nearly lost to the moment; instead he manages the closest thing to the truth, and says only, “I do.”

It's not my fault that Yoda didn't give me advance notice I was getting a padawan, and unless you want to be the one to submit a room reassignment request and pack all of your stuff and all of my stuff and move it before we have to ship out again in two days —"

It was cold comfort to hear such a compliment when she was certain he would never speak to her again.

After the sixth tiny, force-sensitive child Din brings to him, Luke despairs of ever convincing Din that maybe every single unattended child you meet doesn't need to be adopted (which is really a difficult argument to have, since Luke genuinely agrees that in all six situations, Din had been justified in removing the child). It's what he gets for agreeing to train (co-parent) the first child and then becoming best friends with a Mandalorian, for whom adoption is apparently an imperative instilled in their very being. As he watches his strange little family grow, he does wonder why Din keeps bringing the kids to him before remembering when he used to tell his Aunt Beru that he wanted to have a lot of kids when he grew up but didn't ever want to get married and how he may have told Din that story a few months after they met (when Grogu was still an only child) and his heart swells with love for his best friend.

"It was foretold that you would be here," he says, and his mind flashes with the visions he's been having for years while floating in bacta, biding his time.

Her eyes follow his deliberate path to her unwaveringly, alert precisely as though she were hunting him or being hunted by him, but he makes no attempt to prepare or brace for an attack.

The only move of his hand is to extend it toward her as he did once many years ago, her beads in his palm back then and now his powered-down saber, his voice crackling with a rush of fulfillment when he says, "Hello again, Padawan."

“Because your brother will become king, and he will need knights to protect him, and his knights must be able to defend themselves with whatever weapon is at hand, and”—she pinned him lightly against the wall with her saber, knowing he would quip that his fists were always at hand—“fists are no use in a sword fight, if you value having your hands attached to your arms,” she finished, lowering her saber.

“Now I, if not you, do intend to become a knight, so you will kindly practice with me even if you see no benefit in it for yourself,” she said, rapping him on the shoulder with the flat of her blade, "so practice the movement with me again."

Don't mind me filling all of your Aravis prompts. They're just too good.

“Lasaraleen, we are here to spy, not to seek husbands,” Aravis hissed, swatting at her friend, who had lowered her eyelashes at a young Tarkaan, who watched them with interest and looked to be on the verge of making his way over to them.

“But, darling, I can get information from him,” Lasaraleen protested, looking back at the Tarkaan as Aravis hauled her behind a column flanked with potted palms; frowning at Aravis, she said, “He wouldn’t be able to resist me; I even put on my special jasmine and lotus oil—the one I bought at the bazaar in Mezreel, you know; the bazaar there isn’t half so large as Tashbaan’s, but its oils and perfumes are positively unmatched—”

“Las,” Aravis said, grabbing her friend’s shoulders, “this is dreadfully important; we must get near the Tisroc and listen to his conversation, and we must not be seen doing so; and you must help me do it because you know the palace better than I do,” she said seriously, and with Lasaraleen’s sigh and resigned nod, they crept closer to the dais on which stood the Tisroc’s grand tent.

Aravis wiped her slender blade against the dark fabric of her trousers, smiling as she bent over the crumpled form of Ahoshta Tarkaan; leaning in, she whispered into his ear, “Now you will never force yourself upon a young girl again, Ahoshta,” and she pulled down the front of her veil to reveal herself to him.

His eyes widened, and Aravis placed her finger over his lips, adding, “Calling for help would be unwise; there is nothing that can now be done for you, and Tash, may he curse you eternally and darken your eyes forever, does not look kindly upon cowards and cravens, nor do I,” she warned, “so if you would like for your death to not become any more painful, you will not make a sound.”

She rose, watching as death took its hold of him, and as she turned to leave, she heard the soft tinkling of bracelets, and she saw in the shadows, half-hidden behind the curtains, the wide eyes of Ahoshta’s young wife; Aravis nodded to her, whispering, “Go now; you are free of him,” and the girl vanished in a rustle of silk, and Aravis replaced her veil and melted into the shadows.
