How to Prompt

Prompts should be one prompt per comment, formatted in this way: fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence

Example: Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand

Prompts may also be open ended, unspecific, or anthropomorphic, such as:

any, any, I don't like sand
or
Earth geography, sand, I don't like humans very much, either

Prompts for relationships are welcome; a / is used for romantic/sexual relationships and an & for platonic. A prompt that uses both means the relationship can be written as either romantic or platonic, such as:

Star Wars, Anakin/&Obi-Wan, I don't like sand

Prompts may be repeated if they are unfilled; there is no obligation to read through every prompt to make sure yours isn't a repeat. This year's 3SF will stay open for new prompts through Sunday, February 12th.

How to Fill

Respond to your chosen prompt with a short fic of three sentences containing the fandom & characters requested!

Prompts can be filled more than once, as many times as someone has a new idea for them.

Notes & Rules

No, fills do not need to be exactly three sentences! It's more of a guideline. Please abuse grammar and punctuation as much as desired.

3SF is a Choose Not to Warn space. Spoiler and content warnings are not required, though writers are free to add them if they please. If you see something you don't like, just scroll until you do!

A Dreamwidth account is not needed to participate. Anonymous prompts/fills are welcome, or you can use Open ID.

Cross-posting is encouraged; there is a 3SF Collection on AO3 if you'd like to post fills there as well.

Later, by the side of the table, she looks at him, reads the lies in his eyes and the barely held together framework of him, and oh, Nate, but it was always going to come down to a choice, wasn't it?

And it was never going to be her.

High King of the Noldor, and yet his lineage is so more muddied, so less simple and clear cut, his gifts not as easily known.

What foresight does he have, what intuition into others? What gifts does he hold in his blood that make him so fit to be king, what that is not "you are the only one left who would take the throne"?

Aaaah, perfect! A fun concept, a fun character to choose, and also the use of the word "devour" in the actual """mechanical""" naming of the skill as opposed to "purify and absorb" in the narration is a delicious contrast. I love it!

Fire Emblem rubbed his temple. "Yes, he did."

Antonio frowned. "But...he's not acting any different."

Fire Emblem propped his chin in his hand. "Which is why I'm very glad it was him and not any of the rest of us."

Valeris has, she admits with only fractional hesitation (dishonesty is, at best, unnecessary) acted against the interests of the greater organization in which she was, at the time, sworn to active service and, in furtherance of her actions, slain, twice, yet hers are not the--a particular human word for one's general moral or ethical limits is, so she understands, scruples--in question.

What you want is irrelevant; what you've chosen is at hand!

Valeris has not, numerous though her crimes may otherwise be, perpetrated a certain violence on another and, given the gravity of such an action regardless of circumstance, she finds it entirely fair to wonder just who should be considered the (better is an arbitrary term, do not use it as a measure) more suitably representative Vulcan.

Tiger & Bunny, Gen, Memories Reclaimed

Four months after Maverick died, Barnaby got back his first memory—well, the first memory he wasn't actively trying to uncover—of crying after school because he'd messed up a math problem.

He immediately wrote it down.

As he did the next one, and the next, and all the ones after that—uncovering the bits of himself that had been stolen away because they were inconvenient and slowly, carefully putting them back together, piecing together the patchwork of who he had been and fitting it with who he was becoming now, with no one touching his memories but himself.

"You have beautiful wings," Hitomi says, stretching her hand out to touch them as they appear to glow in the moonlight.

Van turns away from her hand and resolutely stares at the sky, unsure of what the people will think, now that he has reminded them of his inhuman side.

"An angel with the heart of a dragon," Hitomi says, slipping into his arms again as she answered the question he hadn't asked, "a king to his people, and someone who has the love of at least two women, so I'd say you're doing fine."

Susan, once queen, once sister, once daughter, once lover, doesn't ask much from this world anymore. She doesn't walk into churches, and she doesn't look for someone about to sweep her into a dizzying spin simply for the fun of it, and she doesn't pray, and she doesn't wonder what would happen if she turned a corner and there was a wardrobe or a doorway or an archway or somewhere to go.

Susan knows how to reach gods differently, these days, has rings and plans and stakes in the ground, has everything she needs to make sure when she meets them it will be on her terms.
