2023 Three Sentence Ficathon - Post #1

Welcome to the 2023 Three Sentence Ficathon!

How to Prompt

Prompts should be one prompt per comment, formatted in this way: fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence

Example: Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand

Prompts may also be open ended, unspecific, or anthropomorphic, such as:

any, any, I don't like sand
or
Earth geography, sand, I don't like humans very much, either

Prompts for relationships are welcome; a / is used for romantic/sexual relationships and an & for platonic. A prompt that uses both means the relationship can be written as either romantic or platonic, such as:

Star Wars, Anakin/&Obi-Wan, I don't like sand

Prompts may be repeated if they are unfilled; there is no obligation to read through every prompt to make sure yours isn't a repeat. This year's 3SF will stay open for new prompts through Sunday, February 12th.

Oh, very hot! I love wrist pinning and especially Madara arching instinctively into it :D

I love the pining and the way Jason twists himself up with his desire! Especially liked the last line :D

I really enjoyed the sense of their long, messy history and Optimus's sense of annoyance mixed with reluctant enjoyment :D And characterizing the sex as "fierce and merciless and powerful" is so good.

The night was wearing on—it had been hours since the Dregs had finally stumbled to their beds with shouts and slamming doors after an evening of heavy carousing—when Inej’s shadow at last disturbed the moonlight pooling on the floor of Kaz’s room, and her fingers picked at the latch on his window, purposely left unlocked because he had received word earlier in the evening that The Wraith had been spotted sailing into the harbor.

Kaz still sat at his desk, not working, but waiting—waiting for the moment the moonlight would frame her form in the window, silhouetting her against the light, and she would steal across the floor of his room, heedful of each betraying floorboard, and take his ungloved hands in hers and pull him to sit next to her on his bed, their bodies close enough to feel each other’s heat but not to touch, not yet.

Inej slipped through his window in one fluid movement, lit by moonlight and carrying with her the salt-scent of the sea, and her eyes were bright as she pulled him from his chair, her hands warm—alive, alive, alive—around his, but she did not tug him to his bed; instead, she stood on her toes, her breath fanning over his face as she waited for him to react, to refuse, and when he didn’t, his heart stuttering in his chest at her nearness and his eyes tight against the memory of Jordie’s bloated skin, she pressed her lips to his cheek, lingering for a moment, and the memories faded with the warmth of her lips on his skin.

"It's a cat, acting as a bus," Bill said, looking at the door that had formed between one book and the next. "Are you going to try and eat me?"

The Catbus gave Bill a look of disdain, accentuated by a tail flip, that Bill nodded and climbed aboard, trying not to freak out at the big gray creature with the leaf in it's hand, her hope renewed that she might make it to the Doctor before something truly terrible befell him.

"—The Aristocrats!" the stoner yells, drawing looks of confusion from everyone, human and inhuman alike.

Crucially, though, the complete non-sequitur is enough to stop the antagonism from developing into a full-out brawl, and thus nobody notices Rufus sneak Bethany out the door so they can get to the hospital.

Except Silent Bob, that is, who grabs one of the demon children's hockey sticks and proceeds to commit a five minute major for slashing to cover the sound of the door closing, knowing full well he and Jay both are about to get their asses handed to them.

"Well, how would you know?" Tamaki asked without thinking, and instantly regretted it.

The twins took great delight in describing in detail, although Haruhi had the strong suspicion they were making most of it up to get back at the King.

When Honey interrupted them both with a thoughtful word, the rest of the Host Club realized just how much his naive-seeming personality was truly an act, and immediately went looking for the brain bleach.

Now that she had to reassemble them, Naminé took more time and paid more attention to Sora's chains of memory as she worked. After practicing putting together a few memories and then reintegrating them, she realized she could understand which links went in what places by listening to the songs the chains formed when they were reassembled well.

It was a little funny, because, as best she could tell, Sora couldn't sing, but he had such an innate sense of rhythm and timing that she could see the dance in his battles, further helping her confidence that she wouldn't need another practice run to return him to himself.

The kids always did like a bit of dramatic flair, and hey, if they think he's dead, it'll stop them from asking inconvenient questions when the other Foretellers finally arrive. So he makes sure to expel the part of the old coot right after he falls over the edge, before following a corridor right to where he's been keeping the box for safety.

They never think to check for a body, and one of these days, it's going to be a hell of a surprise for everybody when Luxu comes back from the grave.

“I don’t want to die here in this strange land, far from my home and my friends,” Merry said quietly, more comfortable confessing his fears now that the thudding of hooves and jingling of tack could hide his voice from the riders around them, and feeling as if he must say these things now because the army had broken camp for the last time, and the end and his doom drew nearer with every stride Windfola took toward Minas Tirith.

Merry felt small and out of place among all the tall, fearless riders who rode to battle and death with grim faces; his courage flagged now that war waited on the horizon, and not even Dernhelm’s steady presence at his back could comfort him; and as he waited for the rider to speak, he felt suddenly foolish that he had spoken so before one of Théoden’s riders.

At last, Dernhelm spoke from behind him, his voice quiet and even: “Stay with me, and I will protect you as I can,” and Merry wondered at the young rider’s lack of fear in the face of certain death; but then he remembered with a chill the expression he had seen on Dernhelm’s face, the look of one without hope who sought death, and he wondered how one so young and so kind could be burdened with such deep despair.

"Keyblades are as strong and flexible as the hearts that wield them," the voice said as the floor underneath Kairi illuminated to reveal herself, Naminé, and Xion, all looking in different directions with their eyes open.

"Being a Princess of Heart grants you the ability not to just defeat your opponents with the Keyblade, but to purify their hearts and absorb them into yourself to increase your own power," the voice continued.

"Hey, love freak," Etna says to the now fallen angel, "do those wings of yours actually work?"

"I've always thought that both angel and demon wings work if we expect them to and not if we don't, so, mostly no, unless I really need them to," Flonne replied, shrugging.

"Uh-huh," Etna says, nodding, "so it must be another one of those things that Lord Laharl really aesthetically likes about his demons, the little pervert."

So many of Spira's problems can be traced to two things: the pyreflies and the entirely human will to stay past the point where they are supposed to go to the Farplane. Sin, the Maesters, the fayth, even Yu Yevon himself, all of the misery and death they caused could have been avoided if they were able to accept their end without the desire to survive.

And yet, when it comes to Tidus, who she loves, she wants him to survive, even though his dream persisting would only start the cycle again instead of the Permanent Calm and she would eventually lose him the same way her father lost his father.

"I don't want to leave you," he says, fastening her into the Pandorica, "but I prefer having to wait forever for you than losing you completely." If this plan works in several thousand years, they'll destroy the universe and replace it with a better one. Either way, he will cease to exist, but he wants to do so with the hope of something better, rather than giving in to despair and spending the next several thousand years trying to destroy a body made of tougher stuff than most things available to him.

"Excuse you, we're tanuki," Sam said to the ranger. "Ordinary raccoons wouldn't be any help at all on this mission."

Frodo put his head in his hands, knowing that once started, this debate was going to last all the way to Mount Doom, no matter how many times he tried to divert it to something else.
