How to Prompt

Prompts should be one prompt per comment, formatted in this way: fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence

Example: Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand

Prompts may also be open ended, unspecific, or anthropomorphic, such as:

any, any, I don't like sand
or
Earth geography, sand, I don't like humans very much, either

Prompts for relationships are welcome; a / is used for romantic/sexual relationships and an & for platonic. A prompt that uses both means the relationship can be written as either romantic or platonic, such as:

Star Wars, Anakin/&Obi-Wan, I don't like sand

Prompts may be repeated if they are unfilled; there is no obligation to read through every prompt to make sure yours isn't a repeat. This year's 3SF will stay open for new prompts through Sunday, February 12th.

How to Fill

Respond to your chosen prompt with a short fic of three sentences containing the fandom & characters requested!

Prompts can be filled more than once, as many times as someone has a new idea for them.

Notes & Rules

No, fills do not need to be exactly three sentences! It's more of a guideline. Please abuse grammar and punctuation as much as desired.

3SF is a Choose Not to Warn space. Spoiler and content warnings are not required, though writers are free to add them if they please. If you see something you don't like, just scroll until you do!

A Dreamwidth account is not needed to participate. Anonymous prompts/fills are welcome, or you can use Open ID.

oh VERY on purpose! not that they necessarily expect him to actually follow through on interrogation, but emotions can reveal a LOT and isn't that just the best!!

there's also another reason they're specifically desperately trying to set him against her before he Realizes something, but YOU KNOW, lots of stuff going on, sometimes giant gov armies / corps are Bad, Actually

I don't know if Hornet actually knows that the Knight isn't dead-dead, but it kind of wouldn't matter to her emotionally speaking. She's lost so much already, and she tried to keep her emotional distance but you can't save the world with someone and not form a bond with them, I feel.

They have their quarrels, of course, doesn't everyone, well leave your shoes at the door, don't park your car there - don't ask me that, Edmund, you know I can't do that - where do I even put this umbrella without upsetting your beautiful decor, how many sugars in the tea and how long till you're leaving again?

Not all of them quarrels, exactly, exchanges, some of them harder than it feels like they should be, some of them easier and muted on purpose, and sometimes she just wants to close her eyes and give up, but he puts a hand on her shoulder from behind, leans his forehead to the back of her neck for a moment, breath warm.

"I'm sorry, I know."

She tells herself the first year will be the worst, tells herself that every morning in the cafeteria, every evening in the pilot lounge, every afternoon working on their ships with an empty space where he used to sit, hand her the tools, read aloud the reports and orders for the day because he knew how she hated having to scroll through those herself.

She tells herself that for a year, and she wakes up and it's the anniversary of him almost dying and her forcing him to stay alive and nothing's better - it might even be worse - and she curls up, gives herself 30 seconds to hold herself together and break before she has to get up.

Well, one more year and then it will be better, one more year and she can face him in the cafeteria without forcing herself not to flinch.

poor nerdanel, so passionate and gifted and strong willed, and at the end she couldn't save her children or her husband from their doom. this is heartbreaking and lovely.

There is an ache in his spine every moment caused by foreign metal his people will not forgive, eased by his daily sessions, eased by the crackle of lightning in his hands for a moment, but the ache is hers by cause and he's the one who bears it every day.

"You know - " the twist of her mouth and turn away of her body is almost as violent as any move he's ever seen her throw in training and he knew that was only ever going to be the end of this conversation but he is so, so tired.

Natalia eyed the Soldat standing in front of her with his shoulders pulled back, his lips pulled into a terse line, and his bright blue eyes dead. He looked over her shoulder intently as his handler circled them as a predator, barking orders for the Soldat to follow seamlessly. While her pulse hammered wildly at what was to come—training with the Soldat was never easy; the best Widows had fallen more to his flesh hand than his metal one—she worried about what would never be remembered.

But when the Soldat looked at her, she exhaled in relief at what she saw: James looking back at her.

The checks are called, the levers flicked, the vague low level buzz of the helmet on her head, and as soon as she lowers it on she can - not feel, that's never the right word, it's a modicum of interaction, the slightest, just enough to give a boost of cognizance and coordination during a battle, just enough to send each other a little bit of knowledge -

Just enough to feel that sickening dread when one of them crashes -

"Tapped in, ready to go," she says, and pretends she didn't get the flashes back from him for just a moment of pulling her out, pretends she doesn't know he saw her pulling him out, pretends that that doesn't matter anymore.

The day after Daniel's funeral, Ultra Magnus entered the Prime's office to find it unoccupied.

Unoccupied, but not quite empty: the Matrix lay on the desk, quiescent without a Bearer to animate it. Magnus pinged Iacon's emergency line on reflex before he spotted the dataslate next to it, lit to display a message: I'm out. Don't look for me. -H.R.

Sometimes it's the tiny interpersonal day to day struggles that hit the hardest. And oh, that tiny little moment! Forehead AND neck touching all at once, it's too perfect. Just that one awful little bit of acknowledgement!

Naruto, Founders Era Madara/Tobirama

Madara walked in on a peculiar sight: Tobirama physically tied to a chair in the Uchiha Main House looking as calm as ever while Izuna looked like he was going to internally explode in frustration… Madara only raised an eyebrow when his fiancé made eye contact with him.

"Koibito, he is just angry that my answers to his many questions about my love for you haven't changed even with him poisoning my afternoon tea with truth serum."

Izuna cried in protest as Madara quickly threw him through the door into the koi pond and then gently untied his lover, both making sly comments that had him questioning whether or not he should leave the ropes on…

April smiled and opened the door to the makeup and wardrobe section of the station, stepping out as a desk anchor for the evening news, and watched the lights turn on immediately in Leonardo and Donatello's heads about the lesson their Master intended to teach them.

“I’ve been thinking about something ever since the coronation,” Frank said, turning to Helen as they lay on the soft grass beneath the twining boughs of the new-grown trees, the bower their people had given to them until their new home could be built.

Helen rolled over onto her side to listen to him, lifting up onto her elbow and propping her head in her hand; her fingers trailed over his new raiment, which he still felt was much too fine for the likes of him, even if he did feel more fit for his newly acquired station in it.

“You’ve always ’ad a ’ead for maths and geography and ’istory and the like, and you can negotiate a right good bargain at the shops, and when you speak, people listen,” he continued, lapsing into his old manner of speech now that it was just the two of them, alone beneath the trees, as they had been back in England in their youth, when they had spent long summer days together exploring the forests and fields of the country, away from the crowded streets of London. “I’m a plain man, always ’ave been and always will be, no matter ’ow many layers o’ finery I’m dressed in and no matter what the Lion said at the coronation, but I’ve always thought that you’re, well, a step above my station, as they say.”

Helen’s fingers stilled upon his chest as she listened, and her expression turned curious.

Frank wrapped his hand around hers as he said with deep earnestness, “I think that you’d make a fine ruler o’ this land, like the ol’ queens o’ England; you have all the wisdom and grace o’ a queen, and there’s no one I’d rather stand at the side o’ than you, Nellie. And the Lion crowned us both, didn’t he? You’ve as much a right to rule over this land as I do.”

Squeezing his hand with a smile, Helen said, “I think that’s a fine plan, and there’s no one I’d rather have at my side,” and she leaned forward and kissed his cheek.
