How to Prompt

Prompts should be one prompt per comment, formatted in this way: fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence

Example: Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand

Prompts may also be open ended, unspecific, or anthropomorphic, such as:

any, any, I don't like sand
or
Earth geography, sand, I don't like humans very much, either

Prompts for relationships are welcome; a / is used for romantic/sexual relationships and an & for platonic. A prompt that uses both means the relationship can be written as either romantic or platonic, such as:

Star Wars, Anakin/&Obi-Wan, I don't like sand

Prompts may be repeated if they are unfilled; there is no obligation to read through every prompt to make sure yours isn't a repeat. This year's 3SF will stay open for new prompts through Sunday, February 12th.

How to Fill

Respond to your chosen prompt with a short fic of three sentences containing the fandom & characters requested!

Prompts can be filled more than once, as many times as someone has a new idea for them.

Notes & Rules

No, fills do not need to be exactly three sentences! It's more of a guideline. Please abuse grammar and punctuation as much as desired.

3SF is a Choose Not to Warn space. Spoiler and content warnings are not required, though writers are free to add them if they please. If you see something you don't like, just scroll until you do!

A Dreamwidth account is not needed to participate. Anonymous prompts/fills are welcome, or you can use Open ID.

Sailor Moon, Ami

There were good reasons to bring her transformation pen to school with her. It would be safer at home, of course - her mother never went through her things, even when she was around - but if something were to happen and Sailor Mercury was needed, it would be tactically unsound to have to run all the way home and then charge all the way back. Anyway, if someone were to spot it, it was easy to pass it off as just an expensive pen.

But Ami wasn't in the habit of self-deception, and none of those things were why she kept it safe in a pocket or next to her skin, rather than rattling around in her pencil case. It just felt right, feeling it nudge against her knuckles when she put her hand in her jacket pocket, as if to say I'm here, you're not alone.

Thanks, I struggled with the prompt at first but it really clicked when I read about the legend of Midas's son (which I didn't know before).

I'd stay out of her reach, too - but I love that there's such an awkwardness as he helps her out.

New Adjustments (Naruto; Izuna, Madara/Tobirama)

"Ugh, you again?" Izuna muttered, slinking into the kitchen to find Tobirama sharing space by the counter with Madara.

"Izuna." Madara snapped, eyes narrow, and Izuna winced; he sounded angry, but he looked upset - maybe . . . Izuna had been a little . . . too harsh about his brother's lover - his once-rival; it was just unsettling to find him constantly here, in their home.

"Ohayou, Izuna." Tobirama said politely, cutting Madara's glare and drawing his attention, and Izuna took a breath and forced lightness into his tone this time as he responded in kind; the ease it brought to Madara's face and tight shoulders was worth the struggle - and worth sharing his home, and his brother, with the Demon-Ghost he had once fought so fiercely.

Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi & Anakin Skywalker & Commander Cody & Captain Rex

"We," Obi-Wan muses from where he's leaning against the rough wall of the cave, "seem to have very bad luck."
Across from him, Cody turns a snort into a cough and Rex grins at him: "I don't know if it's bad luck, or just the fact that you and General Skywalker both have a habit of throwing yourselves into any and every situation you encounter."
Obi-Wan lifts his chin, putting on an air of haughtiness both for their amusement and to avoid actually having to respond to the accusation, and then looks down at the young man asleep with his head in Obi-Wan's lap and runs his fingers through Anakin's hair as they all settle back down to wait out the storm.

Truth in Tea (Sex Pistols; Shinobu/Hidekuni)

"Ah!" Shinobu smiled, inclining his head as Hidekuni settled opposite him, setting out a glazed pot painted with flowers that suggested a jaguar's spots, a pair of matching cups, a slender whisk, and the tin of tea before beginning the elaborate ritual of making the tea with neat, graceful motions. "What have I done to be granted such a treat?"

"Only been yourself," Hidekuni said with a smile, presenting a cup to Shinobu properly with both hands and a small bow of his head, "you should be indulged sometimes as well, you know."

Shinobu laughed quietly and murmured thanks, then sipped the tea and closed his eyes; the tea - beautifully made - sang across his tongue - I adore Shinobu . . . I would do anything . . . only look on me kindly, I would ask nothing more - and he savoured the flavour as he rolled the revelations it offered through his mind, opening his eyes to meet Hidekuni's bright gaze once more.


Shinobu canonically reads 'the heart of the tea' - bits of the maker's soul leave traces in the tea made, and he senses them

Breath of the Wild, Mipha

Mipha floated at the bottom of a wide, deep river, tasting faintly of salt and so cold it made her teeth ache; the current was weak yet, but it still urged her forward and she swam with it until the veil of shadow parted and she saw what had drawn her to this place outside of time.

The being before her was her twin in every aspect, save for slick gray skin and glowing red eyes and a cloud of dark blood roiling from the tines of her trident. Sidon, Mipha thought, without even knowing how she knew, and she mourned even knowing that it wasn't her Sidon that was dead.

Seeing that, the spectre smiled, and Mipha heard the words in her own head as though she'd thought them herself. You are weak. Too soft to do what needs to be done. Your weakness will drag two kingdoms into ruin.

Mipha hesitated only a moment. Then she drew her own trident out, pointed it at her shade. "We will see who is weak."

Merlin, Merlin & Gwen & Arthur Pendragon

Merlin cupped his hands together and blew into them before opening them to let a stream of golden butterflies out. Gwen giggled as they circled her, brushing against her cheeks and landing in her hair, spinning as they circled her and looking absolutely radiant. Arthur watched them—Merlin grinning and Gwen laughing—and he smiled, utterly at peace.

Hollow Knight, Hornet

The mask is in pieces - only that and a quickly-dissolving shadow remain to show that the Knight ever existed. That, and a changed world.

Hornet doesn't have to look outside to know that the Crossroads are dark and safe once more, haunted only by memory and the fallen husks of the bugs the Radiance had once controlled. Whatever Hallownest will become now, thriving world or mausoleum, it will at least no longer be an infected nightmare. And all it took was one last little sacrifice.

Hornet kneels, and reaches out to the broken halves of the Knight's mask. She does not weep.

Yeah I imagine by this point in the Red Robin comics, Tim really really needs a vacation.

Also, I love seeing how much trauma I can get out of poor Tim. 😇😈😇

Tea (Romancing Saga, Albert/Neidhart, SFW)

Neidhart insisted on the two of you taking tea in your room at the inn - he is incognito here, at your insistence, as you don't want to be responsible for his death if someone should recognize the Crown Prince of Rosalia and decide to strike a blow for some past war. You have been through enough on this journey already, between the misadventures you had reaching Crystal City in the first place and the search on the lake, and you want nothing more than to spend time with your old friend again, to forget that your father is dead and his is ill, that your sister is gone, that everything has changed.

Here in this small inn he is not the Crown Prince, just a powerful and striking young man who cannot seem to relax as he sips his own black tea, and you are not his vassal but his friend - or you hope you are his friend, at least, you've always wanted to be - and yet... you don't know why you're still too nervous to speak.

Needs (Tight-Rope; Ryuunosuke/Naoki)

". . .you haven't been feeding?" Naoki whirled on Ryu and he cowered down, whining needily, turning sad eyes up to Naoki and looking nothing like a demon of any kind.

"I only want you, Naooo. . ." Ryu yowled piteously, and Naoki rubbed his face - then had to drop one hand to shove Ryu away, clinging to Naoki's hips and rubbing his cheek against Naoki's stomach.

"Even if I-" Naoki began, and Ryu scrambled up again immediately, breathless, invading Naoki's space until he shoved Ryu again, "if! if I . . . let you," he glared firmly and Ryu whined but remained otherwise silent, "you will have to feed off other people as well, I'm only human, I can't be your only source of energy! Ryu, listen to me!" he barked, grabbing Ryu's shoulder and shaking it; somehow he'd get it through his- his- Ryu's head that he . . . might have Naoki, and that Naoki understood how he functioned, as an incubus, and wouldn't turn him away for it.

To Scorch or to Snuggle (Kamisama Kiss; Tomoe/Akura Ou)

Tomoe breathed life into the dying fire before them, suddenly flaring blue and surging merrily with the sound of laughter and bells - his kitsunebi joyous at being called for - and tossed another branch into it before settling back with a smile, only to growl, flicking an ear, as Akura shoved against his side, taking up all the space at all possible.

"Are you a demon king or a spoilt cat?" Tomoe asked dryly, then huffed as Akura pushed even closer, shoving his head onto Tomoe's lap and curling one hand around his knee.

Tomoe considered shoving Akura off and into the fire - not that it would do him the slightest bit of harm; that was occasionally quite irritating - but . . . he sighed and ran his claws through Akura's wild hair, scratching at the nape of his neck and laughing as he made a tiny mewing noise, shivering and flexing his fingers, claws digging through Tomoe's silk to prick at his skin.

Seeking in the Woods (Teen Wolf; Stiles/Derek)

"What are you doing here, kid?" Stiles asks of the boy now fallen and still scrambling back after nearly running into Derek, stifling a sigh - he never forgets his own days as a foolish adolescent, but by the same token he can't fathom being so incredibly. . .

"They- They say there's a witch in these woods!" the boy cries, eyes fixed on Derek's muzzle; Stiles feels sympathy but also a little exasperation - Derek has retreated almost to Stiles' side, lying down with his jaws closed, his eyes dark; he couldn't be much less intimidating while still being present. "I was just looking for her I swear! I didn't mean to disturb you!"

"Well, that's another matter," Stiles steps out fully into the glade, raising a hand and letting golden light build in the cage of his fingers and spill over the rich, mossy undergrowth and the boy scrambling through it, "you've found me. What do you seek?"

Pirate Flag (Captain Harlock; Kei/Yattaran)

"Some kind of welcome we get, isn't it?" Yattaran observed as the half-dozen patrol ships approached them, shouldering his favourite axe. "Everywhere we go, battlestations and klaxons. . ."

"Truly unfathomable," Kei laughed, brushing her fingers over his belt buckle - tracing the skull and crossbones there, "I wonder whyever that could be." She turned away with a flick of her hair, moving to slip into her heavy-suit as Yattaran watched appreciatively - and idly categorised the number of their ship's favourite emblem on both of them.

"Ready?" he says, without looking at her, and she cracks her neck a little and plays the part a little longer, no matter how hard it gets, no matter how dizzyingly impossible it is to hear him speak to her in that detached tone.

No words necessary, her answer going through the neural link, nothing else, contained and quiet and inside where he can't access it. Not here, not now - not ever - not until she fixes everything done to him.
