How to Prompt

Prompts should be one prompt per comment, formatted in this way: fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence

Example: Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand

Prompts may also be open ended, unspecific, or anthropomorphic, such as:

any, any, I don't like sand
or
Earth geography, sand, I don't like humans very much, either

Prompts for relationships are welcome; a / is used for romantic/sexual relationships and an & for platonic. A prompt that uses both means the relationship can be written as either romantic or platonic, such as:

Star Wars, Anakin/&Obi-Wan, I don't like sand

Prompts may be repeated if they are unfilled; there is no obligation to read through every prompt to make sure yours isn't a repeat. This year's 3SF will stay open for new prompts through Sunday, February 12th.

How to Fill

Respond to your chosen prompt with a short fic of three sentences containing the fandom & characters requested!

Prompts can be filled more than once, as many times as someone has a new idea for them.

No, fills do not need to be exactly three sentences! It's more of a guideline. Please abuse grammar and punctuation as much as desired.

3SF is a Choose Not to Warn space. Spoiler and content warnings are not required, though writers are free to add them if they please. If you see something you don't like, just scroll until you do!

A Dreamwidth account is not needed to participate. Anonymous prompts/fills are welcome, or you can use Open ID.

“I’d have killed her myself, to get you back,” she confesses to him once, panted out against the heat of his skin as she sits in his lap, nails scoring his shoulders, everything in his world narrowing down to the point where she grinds against him. “You know that, don’t you?”

I wouldn’t have deserved it, feels too raw, he thinks, shuddering from passion, from fear, imagining Susan, wild eyed and mad, coated in the blood of a witch, and she might have said the same about you, darling, seems inappropriate, sunk deep inside her, nearly lost to the moment; instead he manages the closest thing to the truth, and says only, “I do.”

oh, Madara. oh, Tobirama. is this pre-Konoha, or the first war after Konoha? I suppose, in a sense, it doesn't matter... Tobirama's unshaking confidence is something to behold, either way.

Naruto Founders, Tobirama & Izuna & Hashirama

Tobirama drew his sword out of the body, watching as Izuna activated the seals on the other side of the room, and the body vanished - though not, he noted with relief, the part they needed.

Then Hashirama burst in, took one look at the both of them covered in blood, and his face went pale.

Trained over many, many years of dubious experiments and pitched battle and difficult missions, not to mention the tizzy Hashirama always worked himself up to, the first words out of Tobirama's mouth were, "It's not our blood, Anija!"

Playing it Cool

“Someday I won’t be so easy on you,” she tosses off, a threat said with a grin, too many teeth showing to really be friendly, but he just stares back at her with that flat gaze, like a man who’s forgotten he has features to use, eyes to crinkle in laughter or a wide mouth made for more than hiding under a helmet.

So she’s surprised when he’s almost tender; when he reaches up to take her hand, flattened on the bulkhead beside his head where she’s shoved him up against the metal; when he strokes one finger down her knuckles, swollen, red with scrapes, tinged with her own blood, his sweat burning against her raw skin.

“This is going easy?” he says, and it distracts her just enough - that tiny lift at the corner of his mouth, something almost like a smile - to let him break free, pulling her off her feet, back in the fight once more.

Naruto Founders, Tobirama & Izuna & Hashirama

"Hey now," Izuna said, taking a step away from the last seal he'd activated before nudging a bowl closer with his toe, squatting down to wring his hair out into it; he had to pitch his voice loud over Hashirama's squawking, which Tobirama was doing absolutely nothing to dissuade like he normally would. "If I hunt a rabbit, the meat is mine; if I catch a goose, the feathers are mine; I think it's fair to say that it is our blood now."

"Oh, no," Tobirama sighed, almost inaudible under Hashirama's renewed hysterics, "now you've done it, Izuna."

I was very taken with the image of Peter's pants becoming unexpectedly tearaway, followed by various thuds throughout the audience. It's the power of that D.

Pet Sematary; Church

Before, Church’s mind was filled with the day-to-day minutiae of being a housecat: scraps of food dropped under the kitchen table, Ellie slipping him pieces of cheese, Gage pulling his tail.

A nap on the couch, a nap on the bed, a nap by the fireplace.

Now, however, something dark calls to his blood, blocking out everything of his former life…and it requires a blood sacrifice of its own.

Whose Steadfast Faith Yet Never Moved (Night Court (TV 2023), Dan Fielding, Abby Stone)

(filling my own prompt...) Warning for canonical character death.

Back in the day, Harry Stone could be positively insufferable on the night shift: always quick off the mark with his groan-worthy puns; lightning-fast with his blasted magic tricks; and his penchant for practical jokes meant that former Assistant DA Dan Fielding couldn’t open any can of nuts for decades after leaving the courthouse, for fear of spring-loaded snakes jumping out to scare him shitless.

But one thing Dan never doubted about Judge Harold T. Stone, over all the years they worked together, was his deep, abiding faith: in his friends, in his colleagues, and in the constant stream of humanity that paused every night to stand in front of his bench for his verdict on their transgressions. Even though Dan didn’t always understand why, Harry held that same faith in everyone no matter who they were.

Thirty years later, Harry’s daughter, Manhattan night court judge Abby T. Stone, knocks on Dan’s front door. When she presents her case for bringing him back to the courtroom as its public defender, he protests and evades and keeps her at bay; afraid after love and loss and too long on his own. Yet in his heart he knows that Harry’s unshakable belief in him—Harry’s legacy of faith that Abby had inherited, that brought her here—might give him the strength to return: to the court; to newfound purpose; and if he wants it badly enough, a second chance at life again.

Dan puts his own faith in Abby and says yes.

Naruto Founders, Madara

The heavy monsoon rains pound down just past the engawa, making the roof sing; Madara sits just past the edge where the wet begins, carding his fingers through his plumage to neaten the feathers and help shake the excess water off. He can hear his brothers inside, running around and causing a ruckus, and he wants to go join them, but first - to dry off.

He takes a towel to dry himself, which ruffles his feathers all over again, but it's not as bad as if he'd tried to towel-dry without preening first; it takes only a couple minutes to set them right again, and then he's off inside, tackling Izuna and Kuro at the same time with a cheerful yell and bearing all three of them to the floor.
