This post will remain open for new prompts until we hit 4000 comments, at which point we'll open a new one to avoid captcha as long as possible. New fills and comments on fills will always be welcome.


How to Prompt

Prompts should be one prompt per comment, formatted in this way: fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence

Example: Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand

Prompts may also be open ended, unspecific, or anthropomorphic, such as:

any, any, I don't like sand
or
Earth geography, sand, I don't like humans very much, either

Prompts for relationships are welcome; a / is used for romantic/sexual relationships and an & for platonic. A prompt that uses both means the relationship can be written as either romantic or platonic, such as:

Star Wars, Anakin/&Obi-Wan, I don't like sand

Prompts may be repeated if they are unfilled; there is no obligation to read through every prompt to make sure yours isn't a repeat. This year's 3SF will stay open for new prompts through Sunday, February 12th.

How to Fill

Respond to your chosen prompt with a short fic of three sentences containing the fandom & characters requested!

Prompts can be filled more than once, as many times as someone has a new idea for them.

Notes & Rules

No, fills do not need to be exactly three sentences! It's more of a guideline. Please abuse grammar and punctuation as much as desired.

3SF is a Choose Not to Warn space. Spoiler and content warnings are not required, though writers are free to add them if they please. If you see something you don't like, just scroll until you do!

A Dreamwidth account is not needed to participate. Anonymous prompts/fills are welcome, or you can use Open ID.

Cross-posting is encouraged; there is a 3SF Collection on AO3 if you'd like to post fills there as well.

"As you will, Anija." Tobirama presses dry lips to his brother's forehead, right over the symbol of their newly formed village. "Good luck."

“But why do they call it a factory?” Rose asked, head cocked, by all appearances thinking very hard. “Is it a factory made of cheesecake, or a factory for making cheesecake, or-”

“Because it’s made by teamsters, Rose!” Dorothy snapped, and stuck a fork full of delicious cake in Rose’s mouth before she could say more, just as sweet and dense as the woman herself.

Star Wars, Luke/Mara/Leia/Han

Somewhere in the evening, while they were working out the logistics for a tricky run, Han looked up from the endless piles of flimsi, a weirdly soft look on his face as he said, "You gotta admit it all worked out pretty good, right?"

Mara's first instinct was to ask where the hell that came from, but she looked across the room and understood - their Morning wife and Chief of State smiled triumphantly down at her datapad as she worked yet another crisis out, her feet in the lap of their Morning husband as he chatted to the twins over a grainy holo connection about an old Jedi artifact he'd just found, and they themselves sat together with their handwriting overlapping on scratch-sheets and all their belongings comfortably strewn together - a scene Mara could never have imagined when Han had first casually asked her what she knew about sedoretu and she had been half-waiting for the trap to spring.

After all these years - after hundreds of dejarik games and sparring matches and rescues in battle, after thousands of kisses - Mara finally had it in her to grin back at him, and throw her arm around his shoulder, and say, "You know what, this time I think you're right."

This has such a lovely light touch and note-perfect humor, and the last line is both so very sweet and so very them.

Naruto, Tobirama/Izuna, the first crisis of the new year

"Izuna!"

Tobirama can hear the fury in Madara's voice and pinches the bridge of his nose in frustration even as he shoves Izuna's head back down under the oki-gotatsu. Still, as Izuna drunkenly giggles in his lap, Tobirama can't help grinning.

The new year has barely started, everything is already in chaos, and yet he wouldn't have it any other way.

Poor Charles! You got his voice across very well; I can absolutely see both his trauma and his character development left over from the 4077th playing out like this once he gets home.

Sometimes, when she caught a glimpse of him out of the corner of her eye, Rose thought she could see... something more about the Doctor (a kind of darkbright glow or sprawling energy), but when she looked at him more directly it was always gone. And then he'd look at her and grin that stupid grin and she'd forget that he was anything but her man-shaped Time Lord best friend.
That weird glow stayed with him after he changed, too, and though it was always hard to remember, it did help her to believe that this was the same man, even though his grin and his eyes and his hair and his style and almost everything else about him had changed.

Edmund was the only one Susan can tolerate talking about Narnia, anymore.

"I wish we could go home," he tells her one night as he holds her in his arms, and she knows that he's talking about Cair Paravel.

"I know," Susan whispers. It's the closest she'll get to acknowledging Narnia out loud again. She turns her head towards him, and kisses him softly. This is as close as they'll get to Narnia again, lying with each other like this.

Eustace finds himself disappointed with his own reticence. She is ‘Pole’ in his diaries and she is everywhere: at good exhibits and bad theatre productions, her stockings darned, her face earnest. But nowhere are the details of her blazing, startling courage, or the warmth of her firm flesh as she leans against him, or the fact that he ls — he can acknowledge it now — in love with her.

This is so lovely! I love both her apprehension and her determination, the references to her difficult past and her growth as well as the undercurrent of love in this whole family here.

Naruto, Kagami/OC, responsible eldritch monster ownership

Kagami peers up at Izuna, eyes pleading, and Izuna knows those eyes see far more truth that anyone else's - even nii-san's thousand eyes.

Still, he has to try.

"Kagami, really, you cannot bring home an Uzumaki baby," Izuna is begging and he knows it. "You know what she'll grow up to be!"

"But that's why, Izuna-sama!" Kagami's voice is as high as any toddler's but the determination in it is not. "If she's going to be a mother to monsters, then she can be the mother to my monsters!"

Mito-hime grins and Izuna sighs.

Really, there's nothing he can say to that.

I once again admire the bouquet that was delivered early this morning, with a cream coloured envelope tucked between the pink, blue and white blossoms.

As my fingers touch each one, I note their names and smile at their meanings: sweet alyssum, hepatica, bluebell, snowdrop, ragged robin, honeysuckle, pear blossom, and clover - white and a four leave clover.

My cheeks warm again in a smile as I read the note again, unsigned, but I don’t need graphology to know which Lord sent me an invitation for this evening.

"Peter," Lucy hisses as she drags him out of the back of the audience and through the hallway toward the door he knows leads backstage, "we've had a major set malfunction and need to stall for time while we do a patch job, so we're enlisting you to entertain; Susan will get you a costume and Ed will give you a mission briefing."
Two minutes later (his siblings can be scarily efficient when they want to be) he's stepping out onstage in a nice tunic, with a fake sword belted to his waist and a gaudy crown on his head, Ed's words about the fake situation ("an invasion from the South, we're outnumbered but much better supplied, there's a foreign princess who we're hosting and guarding, you're trying to raise morale, and please try to remember everyone involved is human") still ringing in his ears.
"My loyal subjects," he begins, and falls easily into the familiar cadence.
